Today I was able to range test the Lee , 93 gr. Plain base , tumble lube , .32 Cal. pistol bullet.

They drop from the mould at about .3135". I size them to .311" The tumble lube grooves are filled with Ben's Red, and lastly the bullets are rolled in BLL.

This will make a great training load for my grandson.

You have to shoot these to believe it. Totally amazing.
At 93 grs. with 6.5 grs. of B'Eye and a large pistol primer in a 30-06 case , this is some cheap shooting.

By the way, we shot several groups like this today.
It is not a fluke.

Damn, what a great training load for a kid. Light recoil to keep it easy but accurate enough to be able to really teach trigger control.

Wonder how it would do at 100 on clay targets?

I have no idea, but next time out I can try it on paper at 100 yards.
By the way, the shooting today was with the Leupold set at 4 X.

Ben: I told you they would shoot! Now you know you don't have to waste Ben's Red In these! Just 2 coats of BLL is all that is necessary!
Glad they worked out ( but I knew they would with you at the helm!)

Jim,

I know I'm not worthy of those kinds of comments Jim.
I think you're right however , they would shoot perfectly less the Ben's Red and use BLL only.

A fun load.

Gee, I wish when I was graduating from rim-fire to center-fire that someone would have allowed me to shoot loads like this !

How do they do in a 30-30? Bet they would work well there too.

Cheap, easy, accurate. What else could a guy want?

Brad,

I had some loaded for my T/C Contender 10", 30-30 today.
Ran out of time.
However, I'll shoot them on the next outing and I'll report back here.

I'll be trying that bullet in the .308. Fine shooting once again Ben!!

Aside from being a very accurate rifle, there's just something i really like about that CVA Scout. It looks really well balanced and it's just a neat looking little rifle.

The CVA Scout is a real " sleeper " in the accuracy dept.
I'm not certain that very many people are really aware of what these little rifles are capable of.

It is clearly the best $289 rifle that I have ever tested.

I have yet to find a cast bullet design and load that it DOESN'T like.

Brad they kick "A" in my Marlin 336 30-30 with 6 grains BE! I hear the firing pin spring! They like to follow the same hole!
That is all I need to know. Next time I place an order with Midway one of these moulds may well be included.
Wait, I bet Khornet has one I can borrow. When I return his 375 moulds....

dang it I forgot about that little rcbs 98 gr plain base mold I have.
it should make a sweet little grouse sniping load for the 30-30, I was gonna run some g/c-less 311358's I have.
but the plain base, rf nose, and crimp groove should make the little rcbs mold a bit better choice.

Ben please report on that if you try it. I am very curious how that little wadcutter holds up at 100.
Of course groups like that at 50 yds. make it one heck of a small game getter regardless of how it does further out.

That little bullet cast of range scrap,a few gr. of bullseye and no gc to make or buy would turn my .308 into a squirrel hunting machine on the cheap side!

Yes, when this bullet hits a squirrel, the next thing you'll see is the squirrel hit the ground.

I have that mold, I use it for 32-20 loads, never thought of using it in 30-06 but I will now.
Any idea what the velocity is?

I don't have a chrony.
Anyone with a rough idea of the velocity that would offer some input on the subject ?

Ben,
With 3.5 grains of BE …..puts the speed at / or slightly under 1000 fps (24" barrel) with a 30-06 ( Data from LG of CB)
Got to pull out my 30-30 targets and check my data I'm starting to remember I was closer to 3 grains than 6 of BE in my loads

That mould drops nice boolits First Lee mould I didn't have to work on

Umm, I may be up to 1,300 or so with 6.5 grs. of B'eye.
What do you think ?
