I wonder if a 10mm breech block assy could be grafted onto a .45 Cal one and make it work?

It probably could--for a while. I think the back-thrust/breech-block/roll-pin issue a la the 357/40 calibers would crop up fairly quickly, the 10mm runs at similar pressures to the 357/40 and with greater gas volume. I see where you are going with this thought so perhaps a 10mm upper half with the machined-in/bar stock breech block would fill the bill. Probably made of unobtainium, though.
This is the sort of gymnastics that people living under oppressive regimes throughout the world have to resort to. I call it "Extracting teeth via anal vent accessing".
