Went out for a few hours, this AM. Was 78* when I got up at 4AM. Water temperature is already at 84.5 degrees. Twenty seven and a twenty four inch Striper. Caught on artificials. Quit early because two is the most I want to clean. That's four dinners for me and Cindy. Bella get all the red meat.

The human body produces about 350 BTUs per hour. Multiply that by a few hundred and they can heat a building pretty quickly. I wouldn't want to be stuck at a gunshow table all day under those conditions, either.

Man I can't figure why a sealed rod end would only last 50 yr ......I think you got ripped off and need to have a sit down with the CEO and responsible engineers .:rofl:
Yeah, but there's grease fittings on EVERYTHING else, why not on the ball joints? Just seems odd to me.

JW, I'd call that pretty decent shooting. Somewhere, I have a home movie my father shot, of me following a soda pop can down a dirt road, plinking it with the 1911. I was at least matching your shooting. At 60-something, with some pretty annoying hand tremors, I know I couldn't do what I did then and almost certainly can't match your marksmanship.

Nice shootin' JW.
I used to be able to impress the heck out of my boys by rolling a can across the ground with my Smiff 19...from the hip. Those days are just a memory now.

Got the hay I had down baled. Went pretty well except for the wiring on the electric tie mechanism deciding to fry itself. Cut about 4 splices out of the run and everything works good now. Gord and I stretched some more fence and the goats and sheep are ecstatic, or what passes for ecstatic for sheep and goats. It's what they call "nuance" I'm told...

Well, I guess my youngest was serious about moving out and back with the birth family. About 16 years of stress, effort, love and money and it was all for nothing. Kind of a bummer.

Certainly not "for nothing". The impact and influences your family had on that kid with last a life time. Kudos to you.

Feeling a bit better today. I think the single serving diet meat balls, I had for lunch at work 1 am yesterday, were bad. Missed work last night, spent all night in misery. But got up at 1:30 pm today and feeling better, drinking lost of water, and was able to hold down some soup. So going back into work at 5.Ill have a mess to deal with because we are down a guy and not covering all hours to start with. Guess it's my mess I will clean it up.

Those are some nice looking fish. Makes my want to get out on great lakes before summer is over. Have not done that in a while.

Going to Cabo San Lucas in November. Might try and go fishing while I am there. Never been on the ocean.

Yep, that's what I was referring to.
Glad you're better.

Went to town today, stopped off at doc's office and got results of blood draw last week for CBC. Pretty good results for a fat old man.:)

Stopped at the local farm store and resupplied with blueberry nuggets for deer, bird feed for the feeder and another bag of charcoal for the Kamado Joe. B & B Oak or Hickory Lump charcoal is the best and I like to keep at least a year supply on hand.
Also picked up a Walmart order.

Rack of lamb is marinating right now. When outside air temp falls into the 80s I'll start the BBQ.

went to a yard sale this morning.
ain't done that in ages, but I got some good stuff [for the first time ever] cheap.
couple of soft rifle cases for a buck each, an old school Kolpin lockable for 5 bucks, another 6 gallon gas can for a dollar [you know one that just pours gas out the spout and has a vent]
plus a real nice soft touch back pack with all the zippers, straps, and clips still working, for 3 whole dollars.
I'm pretty positive the back pack will become my hunting day pack, it's just large enough to haul out a boned out deer no problem, and should handle a quartered out deer with the bones in just fine too.
it even has a spot to securely hold a rifle on the one side with a pocket for the Butt, and 3 straps to secure it.

If you love lake and creek fishing you might be ok . If you only like lake or river fishing , I wouldn't do it . It'll ruin any real desire to fish anymore ........

There is the real possiblity of a 10# hook up being bait before you get it in the boat .

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
The Willow Fire started, last evening, in the Las Padres National Forest in an area near the Arroyo Seco campgrounds, Tassajara Road and the Zen Center. It's very rugged mountainous terrain and accessible only by hiking in. My first thought was illegal pot growers.

Minimum size for Striper is 20 inches. Hybrids can be any size. Daily limit is five per licensed individual. Can use any recipe that works for white fleshed fish. I freeze mine labeled thick or thin. The thick, Cindy, usually reserves for baking. The thin is either pan or deep fried. The red flesh is very fishy tasting. I remove every bit of it. That's what so time consuming, after fileting. It's akin to the darker colored flesh on salmonids, just under the skin side. Bella doesn't seem to mind the strong taste.
