Well looked at the sun.
Getting ready to get to the range with my wife's uncle. No pic or vid. He is camera shy.

My whole day revolved around mitigating eclipsostupid at the airport. Fortunately the airport manager hired some armed rent-a-cops to filter traffic at the front gate. Don't work here, don't have a room at the hotel, don't have a plane hangared here, go away. I swear GA pilots as a group have got to have the bottom of the bell curve in their midst, out of the several dozen planes I marshalled to their numbered, pre-paid tie-down spots, I almost got run over twice and I think maybe half of them understood basic hand signals. The other half kept looking everywhere but at me. Shoulda had one of my black AR-15s with me, maybe that would have helped them pay attention. Anyway, we all made it through the two-minute night, nobody died (at least not at the airport), and now I'm home kicking back for a while. As for the eclipse, we had fast-moving cloud cover but it allowed plenty of brief glimpses of the eclipse as it started and lasted until the instant totality was over and then thickened up so there was no view at all on the other side. We were happy to get what we got, it was pretty awesome with the crickets chirping at 1:30 in the afternoon and so dark we couldn't see anything but lights across the airfield.

Used the leaf blower to blow the gravel out of the front yard, tillered the garden for the first time this year..... stopped & had a root beer with the Mrs during the big event.... only got a little dingy gray looking for a little bit, it did kinda cool off & breeze picked up for maybe 20 minutes.

Showered & inmy chair with the dog....we are pooped

moved dirt.
i need more, but i'm cheap... gonna have to break down and get some delivered though... i doubt i'll find 10 yards just sitting on the side of the road somewhere.
i did get the new box full,, with a bunch of organics mixed in so it should be GTG... now i just need to build the hoops for the cover.

i also laid out a smaller temporary box, i'll cut and build tomorrow when the Kids come over... i should have enough dirt left to fill the small box.
we'll build the second big box tomorrow and get it set, fill it with the sticks and such, then i can pull a final measurement for the last box going in that section.

Yesterday, eclipse day, my friend and I went shopping in the twin cities. Way too cloudy to notice anything...maybe a tiny bit darker during totality, but we are in the 75 to 80 % zone. When I stop at costco, which was super crowed, my buddy says NO WAY, I'll stay in the car. I go in and shop for the one item I really want, but they didnt have any. I come back out, he says he was surfin' craigslist and found a battery weed trimmer and leaf blower and 4 batteries for $20...it's on the way, and that guy is there waiting for us. He is selling all his Late father's stuff. I see a plug-in electric garden tiller. He says, it's a troybuilt and is for sale, my buddy asks, how much? $20. WOW, what a score. So we fit that in my small car along with everything else. This troybuilt is a bigger one, my buddy is hoping to use it in his greenhouses. He uses two of his green houses like a giant cold frame...and doesn't like using gas tillers in there.
.
Today, is a day to rest up and do some grilling and just enjoy sitting outside and enjoying the weather. Maybe I fire up a recently acquired 8hp generator, to see if it works.

Sue is going to fish with me tomorrow so I have been reorganizing, and rearranging gear. Found Sue's inflatable life vest, rods and reels. Going to wash the road guck off the hull and am going to flush the live well and on board cooler with a 10% bleach water solution. I may go add some gas to the tank, but these Suzukis are gas misers.

i miss Crappie fishing more than anything else.

Littlegirl got here while it was still cold, but we went out and slowly got the day started.
then i went to kick the ice out of the dog water bucket and promptly shoved my foot to the bottom,,, sure glad i decided to wear tennis shoes this morning.
5 minutes later,,,i'm back out helping, LOL
oh well we got both boxes built and i had just enough dirt to fill the little one, gonna have to build the fence for the Peas tomorrow.

funny how things work out, the neighbor has a big pile of stuff he's cleaned out of his horse stalls over the last 10 years.
take all you want he says....
siigh now i gotta dig out one of the wheeler's, and the trailer that's blocked in by the neighbor who is gone somewhere, that is blocking in the gate to the wheeler.

he tells me they had his wife on 3 morphine pills a day and 3 oxycodone/oxycotton whatever pills a day...
i explained to him how the oxy was a time release percocet.
he was like ohhhh yeah nuff of that crap, no wonder she acts like a mushroom.
[she was like maybe 80lbs. on a good lunch day, i don't know what she's down to now]

Well computer came like 4 days early.
Got a notice that it was out for delivery.Requireing signature.
So stayed outside today. For most of the morning, picking up brush and trash from the yard.
From all the weird spring weather. Dragging it to community fill needed spot. And trash put in the can. Yard is now ready to mow. A couple neighbors caught on, so they were outside doing the same.
Walked around after. Gabbing, tasting each other's coffee, as cups were filled from various pots.
Then Fed ex had got here at 3:30 with the computer, after a 7 hr wait. Got it inside did a quick visual. Seamed Ok and has a year warranty so put it on the chest freezer. Then went Face Book Market Place Chasing, for a desk.
After two failed attempts. Finally gave up with the Face Book search.I could find nothing just the right size.
Well, tried the local furniture store. About had a heart attack looking at the prices. Not going to pay $700 for a desk to put a $200 computer on.
So trip to Alliance Ohio. Went to Walmart then Big lots with a tape measure. Finally found one just right, at Big Lots Furniture. It's one of those build your own. But cheap enough. And it fits the spot perfectly.
So now assembling a desk.
