About 2 or 3 weeks ago, our Library updated their computer department. They sold all the old computers for $100 each. They didn't say what processor or ram they had, but they did say they were equiped with Win 10 pro...tough to be that deal for home office.
Ok Johny come lately. LOL
;)
I was checking out Walmart on line they have referbish just like my office tower but more memory. For $110. Might be the deal since I have the wireless mouse and keyboard that matches work. Just would have to get the monitor. Probably catch one of those at a pawn shop.

finding a new desk top unit is like trying to find an atarivision unit with 50 cartridges all NIB.
heck the Atari might be easier.

more snow throwing.
about 8-9 more feet to go, but it's over 3 foot deep and gets deeper the farther i go,, so it's gonna take a few days.

Probably get a refurb or previous owned Asus/Dell/MSI laptop for couple hundred at Best buy or WM. Put Linux on it with Libre office (free). Newest versions of Linux are almost Windowish.

For years, I have bought nothing but Dell Refurb/Scratch and Dent/Closeouts. NEVER been disappointed. Last two I bought (w/i 18 mo) - Laptop and tower - ~$150 each! The tower is to process/edit photos. It had a huge memory capability. Think it came with 8 - and I bumped it to 40. Memory cost me damned near what the PC did - but still the cheapest route for what I wanted/needed.

A tip IF you buy Dell Refurb etc. Go web route to pick WHAT you want, then call to place the order. I have ALWAYS saved $/discounts/free shipping, etc. Can sometimes save you $50-$75!

I finally got the sweet peas planted the first thing this morning.
It was trying to get them planted before the forecast rain arrived.
I got lucky and even got the several wheelbarrows loads of compost hauled to the garden.
My fall planted bulbs are blooming here at the house and at my Wifes grave.
The brightly colored blooms really help my attitude.

Put my tomatoes, and onions, peppers. Out of the starting trays a bit early.
Lucky I just have two small beds. I covered covering them with lace curtains on sticks.
Keep the frost damage down.

Took a vacation day tonight. Went to my once yearly required club meeting. Paid my dues for family. Raised it $10 this year. $60 covers Wife, Son, and I.

Not planting veggies yet, last freeze average is April 25th.
I jumped the gun a bit. I don't plant potatoes or any root plants besides onions.
So usually nothing goes in till after April 15th.
But those breathable hot beds. I turned the beds into, should keep the frost damage away. My main issue is. I hope I got enough gravel, and sand in the bottoms of the beds. As much rain as I have would hate to loose it all to root rot. After tripping over the starters in the mud room for the last month.

Just found out..
Got some of the wife's folks coming in to Ohio. From out of state.
Her last living uncle and his much younger female other-nurse lover thing. Have not seen him since his wife of 45 years passed, 4 years ago.
On the 7th and 8th.
So start cleaning up the house tomorrow. Getting the 2 roll aways put of the closet. Washing up fresh bed clothes for all beds., so we can let them have their choice of sleeping arrangements.

He is an retired sheriff, and former Army marksman. So planing a range trip before they go home. He is 72 and lives in the far south west side of Kentucky. So may be the last time I get to enjoy his company.

They want to watch the Eclipse on the 8th about 230 ish.
Hate to disappoint them, but the forecast calls for rain and cloudy sky's. So probably all they are going to see is complete darkness for a couple minutes, during the day. However this is Ohio so that is subject to change.

Took the dog to the back yard at 6:30 this morning. She immediately alerted on the neighbors back yard. We saw a large healthy looking coyote who trotted off. Not the first time we have seen one here, javelinas too.

Sneezed, yesterday and today. Why? Because when I make fermented hot sauces, (thanks JW), I have learned to save the left over brine and the ground up solids when I strain the sauce off. Well, that darned paste is very tasty but a little goes a long ways. Soooooo, we decided to spread it out on a fruit leather tray, dehydrate it until absolutely crispy, and grind it in a spice grinder for pepper flakes and powder. Works good, to a point. The point when you sneeze and sneeze and cough and gasp and wheeze.
All done now, one batch yesterday one a little while ago. Amazing reduction in volume, from approximately a pint of those paste solids to about 4 oz. in volume of flake and powder. I never use store bought red pepper flakes on my pizza anymore. I used up JW's jar of smoked Allepo flake, my jar of Chili De Agua flake is almost gone so I decided to try this.
I use smoked peppers as part of my fermented pepper sauces so these flakes/powders are not only smoky but have that unusual fermented taste also.

Doc appt, shot, antibio and xray. Then to WM, messed up Rx, 25 min to straighten out. Mailed tax forms. Sorted and backed up important files. Nap time.

Bought a Walther PD380 a few weeks ago; had a bad sear/hammer notch engagement. Yesterday picked up the replacement that Walther sent to the LGS.
Neighbor came and mowed a few tall patches and spread tick killer on about 1-1/2 acres of grass area around the house. Now we have to wait for rain followed by a few days of drying out to take the dogs on those areas.

worked on weeding the one garlic bed some, then decided i'd had enough looking that close at some weeds for the little 1/4" garlic sprouts poking out.
moved along to moving a little snow, and tearing the old flower bed apart.
i got the bigger important stuff dug out of it and moved over to the Bed-bed, and even found a few little crocus bulbs over in the one corner.
chippity chopped some suckers off the plum trees, and dug out a tree i've been hemming and hawing about for a couple of years now.

it just happened to be growing along the edge of the flower bed so i ended up taking the one side apart in the process, now i gotta fix it, and fill it up with a lot more dirt.
no big deal, and it gave me a chance to look the wood over, it's been there for about 7 years now and you'd think it'd be starting to rot.
nope the deck correct stuff is doing it's job, the only thing even slightly touched is the cheap screws i used.

Well found remanufactured Dell. 1T hard drive. 16 gb memory.
Comes with everything I need but the printer.
Less then $190 total cost. With a 1 year guarantee.
I could have got just the tower with 8 gig memory and 500 megabite hard drive, for 89 bucks. Same as at work.

But figured by the time I upgraded the memory, got a monitor, WiFi adapter, key board, mouse. I am just better off getting the package. With upgrades for future needs.

Should fill my needs for a while.
We use windows 7 at work yet. Could not find anything with windows 7.
So I figure With windows 10 pro. I probably need a bit more memory, and hard drive. Hope I can adapt between the two. Going from xp to 7 at work a couple years ago, really threw me a bit.

My favorite Alaskan cartridge! I only had good results with IMR 4895, but your results will vary.
I have only used 4350 so far. Well that's not true, I did use 4064. But I'm out of it. I see 4320 also listed which I have a few cans of what seeing as that's discontinued I'm gonna save that for the 308 where I like to use it. But I'll keep 4895 in mind because I have a few one pounders and I might have a four pounder of that too tucked away yeah I read it well like in Alaska it's certainly a powerhouse as I said my top load pushes close to 4700 foot lbs. of energy

I really. want to go fishin' but I think I'll wait for just a bit warmer weather. Yesterday was the fist day since the 13 of March that it wasn't somewhat windy. I took advantage of that and spooled line onto a spare spool. In the Spring with cold water, (it's about 38° right now where I want too go), a slow retrieve is a benefit. So I have a 1000 size spinning reel that takes in less line per handle rotation than my typical size 2500 walleye reels. I was using it for perch and bluegills late that Summer and early Fall and had 8 lb. mono on it. I wanted to put 8lb. braid for casting jigs for walleyes. Less line stretch, better feel, longer casts, less resistance in the water due to the small diameter.
My spool filling procedure would drive a lot of guys nuts, but, well, I want a perfectly filled spool and I don't want to waste the more expensive braid. This will be the only reel I will be using 8 lb. braid on so I bought a spool of only 150 yards. With cheap monofilament backing I can use 75 yards of braid at a time. So, using my shooting range in the yard, I go to my chicken wire target frame and using one of the clothes pins I attach the end of the braid to the chicken wire. I walked off 75 yards of braid and cut it. I temporarily attach the cut end to the empty spool and put a small piece of electrical tape over the arbor knot to prevent slippage and tugging on the line to free it from the clothes pin, spool on the 75 yards of braid.
Next I tie a Uni to Uni knot of the braid to some 6lb. mono I bought at Cabela's Bargain Cave more than 10 years ago. Kept out of light exposure it is still good. I rigged up a dowel to hold the mono spool and fill the reel spool to the perfect level.
Now my dilemma is the backing mono is on top of the braid. Back to the clothes pin on the target backer and I walk off the entire length of line, (turns out to be 140 yards). Walk back down to the end of the mono and secure it with a good arbor knot and electrical tape for added security, and reel all the line onto the spool. The end of the line is free to untwist, if any should be present, and my braid is now on top of a perfectly filled reel.
It's okay, you can say L Ross is nuts out loud, I can't hear you anyway, and.....you're probably right.
