At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Got the lumber off loaded and stacked, fixed a barn door, spent the rest of the day on the road running kids to various appts. Really tired of driving!

I plan to remove some goofy clay tile foundation blocks that the previous owner used as Patio blocks (circa 1970s, so I guess they did last quite a while). Then add fresh gravel fill and lay some new patio blocks...a project I've been putting off since 2017. I started this project in 2017 when I got a piece of sidewalk from street reconstruction (Dated 1940 and marked WPA) that I want to work into the design of this patio in the back of my garage.
Well, this did get started on Monday. Back was sore on Tuesday and the weather was crappy, but I did a little bit more, until the pain started to get "Spiky". Today, I'm gonna try an avoid this project, Maybe I'll cast some .366 bullets? Maybe my back will be better tomorrow? I know the weather will be better.

Was taking ammo count today. Looks like I shot up the last of the jacketed bullets Lamar sent me when I was learning to reload for the .223. Still got plenty of jackets for my yote hunting loaded up. Also will soon be making my own practice loads.
Loaded up some more for the Elvis project so will be posting that when I get a chance to test.
Have to go to work tonight so not doing much more.
Might get the son outside and test fit a few trusses to the floor joists just to double check them.

Patio project Photos:

This large, heavy, 80 year old chunk of city sidewalk is stamped "WPA 1940".
During the 2017 street reconstruction, I begged and pleaded with the
construction workers to save this, and it's finally getting placed in it's
new home.

WPA stuff was actually pretty good. Seen lots of streets paved with the red bricks, still usable if you don't mind the noise.
My re-org. I looked in the GI ammo cans. Yup, lots of factory stuff there, don't need anymore. Forgot about those bulk 22lr packs. Plus 1 1/2 case 20ga, 1/2 12ga. Might swap for SRP.

this patio is on the south side of the Garage...that frost was gone two weeks ago.
I had Crocus blooming on the south side of my House last week ;)
The north side of my house still has frozen soil...The Peonies that grow there always bloom late.

Decided to start with the easiest of the many projects that are lined up in the aftermath of Operation Fence Replacement. Moved part of the wood pile to allow room to re-set some 16" pavers, attached an edging to hold the pavers in place, then re-set the pavers. Went to to the lumber yard and bought a 50-pound bag of 30 mesh sand, some screws, and two pieces of 4'X8' lattice. Used the new longer screws to replace the too-short screws that came with the two gates' hinges. The sand will be used for re-laying the patio pavers and the lattice for the cross fence "window". Cut the window's trim pieces (using a couple recently acquired secrets) and re-layed some patio pavers.

Would've got more accomplished, but this afternoon's temperature was 82. HOT! TOO HOT!! Mikie doesn't work too diligently enough when it's HOT.

Temperature is down to 79, I hear a deck chair and umbrella calling me and a Guinness . . .

Yea, not here, but we're fly out tomorrow to the PNW so some green foliage is going to be appreciated. Picture taken just now looking at my shop. Currently lightly snowing with 8 more inches predicted by Saturday.
Really need to be doing the snowbirding thing.

Sittin' here drinkin' coffee and grumbling about the weather. We have back slid to 19 degrees this morning. At least it is calm, but my blood has started to thin out on its way to Summer weight and whereas 19 above felt tropical after the 20 days of sub-zero in February, now it just sucks.

I don't want to do inside projects, I want to do outside things, and especially to go hand lining on the Miss. There is a finite window of no more than 3 weeks of action and those days are slipping by.

My honey is off to put in her volunteer hours at the cat shelter, (not to be referred to as the cat house), then she has to conduct a voting machine test prior to next Tuesday's elections. So I don't have the extra set of hands needed to split another load of wood. I guess I'll attend to some reloading chores but my heart just isn't in it.

Had one of those days, yesterday, everything turning to crap.

Started off with my RCBS lube-a-matic II. Lube pressure screw worked it's way out through the reservoir cap. Called RCBS for replacement parts. Was on hold for nearly and hour. Finally, got the parts ordered...........no charge, per the lady I spoke with. Was going to email the order but site said there was at least a three week delay, going that route. That put and end to my bullets sizing. Was doing .360 for my Rossi, no die that size, for the Star.

After lunch, I decided to cast. Set up the Lyman Mag 25 outside. After ladle casting for a short while, was having difficulties with casting good bullets. Well I found out why. Damn thing quit. PID readout was blank. Not apparent, because it's located on the side. Hoping the extension cord got unplugged or blew a breaker. Nope..............it outright died. Had to rush to get 25 pounds of alloy out of the pot, before it solidified. Just made it. Poured the rest out in a slushy mess. Took the hint and called it a day. Will deal with that later today.

The temps went up to 80 yesterday.
My buddy and i went over to the east side and got in our first sage rat shoot.
It got up to 70 on the east side.
I used the 17HMR and my 221FB.
Shooting wasn`t crazy but we had enough to keep us happy.
It sure is good to get back at it.

I would help ya out but the biggest Star die I have is .359". no .360". But if ya want you can use it.
Thanks I have a .3585, that I use for 9mm and 357 pistol bullets. Since, I had the .360 for the LAM, I never purchased that size for the Star. Only have maybe a hundred left to do. I can wait. Not that I'm out of sized bullets.

So use the .3585". That Rossi ain't no rail gun and it's pretty doubtful you'll be able to tell the difference in a half thousands.

Who'd you get the holster from? I got a Diamond D Chest rig that's pretty nice and ordered a second holster from Dewey Waddell. Diamond D was for my SP101 and the holster from Dewey Waddell is for my 1911's. They interchange real easy.

Waugh! I'm still not dry from yesterday! The evening before had been red as all get out, so I thought maybe I'd have a nice morning at least before the front rolled in and the temps dropped and snow started. Nope. A nasty, cold rain all day yesterday. Of course I had to put hay out and that means sitting in the weather for a good 45 minutes on an open tractor in good weather. Of course yesterday wasn't good so it was more like an hour and half getting soggy. I did manage to get a reducer cut out and finished for the headers on the F350. I needed a 2 1/4" hole saw. I had everything either side of that but not what I needed. The big hardware in town was out of Milwaukee brand so I had to get an Ace brand. Lesson learned- Ace is probably fine for use on wood but they aren't anything great on steel. Never again! I had to cut a slight rebate into one side so the flange of the exhaust tubing would sit flatter. I tried, stupidly, the nifty carbide insert tooling I bought 15 years ago. "Chatter" doesn't begin to describe the problem. I don't know why I even tried. HSS is the only tooling for this machine, and it better be SHARP HSS. But I did get it done and hand turned a flange to the edge of the tubing, Only one giant blood blister that got cut before the pain set in. It actually looks like it will work.

Seems like the fuel pump went in the Burb. They off loaded it at the garage and it started right up for them. They got it in and put it on the lift and she wouldn't start after that. Raise it in the air and smack the tank with a mallet and she'd start. Sure sounds like fuel pump to me. What puzzles me is that you can hear it run and yet it doesn't work. I've never had one do that before. Learn something new every day I guess. No way I could do the job here this time of the year anyway, so I gue$$ I'll have to pay the bill and $mile while I do it.

Also got hold of that outfit down in the Tug Hill area that has my Coleman SXS. They report it's fixed! I asked what they had to do to it and the response was along the lines of, "Not much. We just had to undo the trash whoever was in there before us did!" I'm going to ask for a much more detailed explanation when I go down to get it next week. Sure hope it is in fact FIXED!

As expected SWMBO doesn't have The Plague. Now we get to see if the school will try and take 3 days of sick time. We know that if you have the virus they don't take sick time from you, but we're still not clear on what happens if they send you home and you don't have it!

Don't know what it weighed , but that's a Dodge 1500 tailgate .
Son in-law arrowed it in the back yard this morning on 3/4 acre SW corner of San Antonio . They are surrounded by cotton fields and unused pasture on 3 side of suburbia .
