I used 8" primed lap siding and it did need a lot of caulking and painting. All the soffits are plywood which got sanded, primed, caulked, and painted. Since the last photo was taken I got the gable end wall all painted.

Spent the morning framing and insulating the doorway to the dormer addition from the back side and cut through the sheetrock and opened up the wall at 1:30. Installed the pre-hung door and sealed off the room with sheetrock by 6:00. The room itself is uninsulated so it gets mighty hot in there with open attic. All the bedroom AC escapes so once I breached the wall it had to get buttoned up. One of those can't quit 'till done things.

:headscratch: No insulation? How come?

I almost agree with that. I've met two exceptions; Mormon lady across the street from my parent's house. She was so sweet and thoughtful that my mother thought it must be an act. After about 3 years we were convinced that she was genuinely the friendliest, most thoughtful and caring person we'd ever met.
The other exception is Mrs. smokeywolf. There's not a mean, spiteful bone in her body. She always puts me and the boys first. We've been together 25 years and she's never said "no" to me. The closest she's ever come is with regard to money, (she handles the money) she's said 3 or 4 times, "Can you wait a little bit?"
You just haven't scratched the right spot. It takes a lot to push some folks, but usually alcohol and a member of the opposite sex will start the pus flowing. I wasn't including peoples spouses in the formula. Family is a whole 'nuther can of worms.

Spent most of Saturday running the roads after a morning of shed roofing work. Dad finally got up onto the roof proper and I was doing good for quite a while. It was relatively hot for the time of year, low 80's, and after squirming my way back onto the roof for the 3rd time I got a bit dizzy. It might have been the Dollar Store sunglasses with the warped lenses or maybe the heat combined with my age, but I couldn't seem to hit the strapping with my feets any too reliably. I've never been particularly gifted with tight rope walker type balance, but I could handle walking rafters and trusses all right. Ended up crab walking down the roof as we worked. Stinks getting old!

SWMBO is in full on home repair mode now. We took the Explorer to Lowes and we came out with enough stuff that I wish we'd brought the F350! Now she's talking siding the house the way she wants it and she got me thinking about finally doing the addition we've discussed. Sheesh! It never ends!

Brett, could be you were dehydrated.

The chop saw's 10" concrete blade didn't get delivered till too late to do any sawing, except two test cuts. It works as advertized and as expected. Now I can start the end of the deck, and between its steps and the gate, paver project. A lot of cuts, but I'm not going to measure three times and cut long. Because of all the dust, twice and short ought to be good enough.

Was doing an Internet search for Blackhawk ejector housings and what should pop up but Ruger's. Hmmm . . . futilely roamed round the site last week, but didn't see the housing listed anywhere. Replacement is steel rather than the original aluminum. The change in material, and that it's the only Blackhawk part listed other than grips, seems a clear clue that aluminum was never up to the stress of the job.

Ian, what I like about your room addition is, it looks like it was always meant to be there; like it was part of the original design.

I just can't keep the base pin in mine above about 1150 fps with a 265 gr Colts . Fortunately at 1050 MV in meat penetration is measured in feet at 50 yd .

I installed a stronger base pin spring, so it stays put.

I think the Texan I Gunbrokered it from may have launched it all a time or two, judging by the wallowed screw hole and mangled threads.

Just got back from town. Tasha got her rabies shot and a CBC including heart worm check. Tried new vet. This one worse than the last. I don't like it when they treat you like an ATM and are more interested in selling you the flea & tick and heart-worm drugs at half again what non-vet retailers charge, then start trying to hock dog foods and supplements.

Picked up groceries at Wally World. Small order, just $250 or so.

Sprayed front and back for weeds, got the second dose of rona V. Only reason is if she puts me in old folks home. Walked the dog. Life is boring these days.
loaded 100+ 40sw and found another bucket of 40 brass I'd forgotten.

Went to Baxter Veterinary today. Won't be going back. Went there because someone recommended them. Went to All Creatures a year ago. They were also focused on up-selling food, supplements, the flea & tick and heart worm med at 20-30% over retail and everything else they could think of.

Piece of crap tried to sell my underage boy drugs. Met him on snap chat. Drove down here. To give him a sample.
Nothing I hate worse then a grown man taking advantage of kids. He is real lucky he is still breathing.

Both Rick and I use All Creatures. They will price match any veterinary medications. Just print out the online prices. We use do that for the prescription meds for heartworm. Last year, we went with the twice a year shot. For flea and tick meds, we just purchase online. Cindy just bought Nexgard, from Great Britain, for about half of what All Creatures, wants.

The internet is a very dangerous place for kids. There are apps out there that allow you to see exactly what your kids doing online. Not easy to use IMO, but might be worth looking into if this becomes an issue.
