Yup. Quite familiar with solid rock. That is a 1.5" x 22" Bosch cruciform-point carbide masonry bit buried to the hilt.

4" core holes drilled in solid rock for the 2-7/8" pipe and filled with high-psi anchoring cement. High-tensile game fence needs solid pull points. Bret, the tee-post corner brace system is good for low fence IF you have solid ground and sounds like a good solution for that rocky location.

Busy morning! Saw a post somewhere that salvage was up and somebody got over $3/lb for bullet jackets after smelting. Got me to thinking. I have 3 1/2 five gallon buckets of jackets sitting in the shed and 2 1/2 coffee cans of range scrap waiting to be melted. Went over to the farm and snuck off with the cement mixer, threw one bucket of jackets in, a bucket of water, a healthy squirt of Dawn dish soap, some vinegar and started it up. Went down to the shed and started smelting the range scrap while it was running. Came back to a BIG pile of suds on the driveway, right where momma parks her car when she's not shopping. Oh well, let it run for a while, dumped most of the suds out, and threw a fresh bucket of water in. Hmm, how am I going to screen this out? Found the old grill to a long gone Allis Chalmers 200 diesel, screen was about like really heavy porch screening. Worked great. Ran through all 3 1/2 buckets, got them layed out on a 5x8 utility trailer in the sun to dry. Ran back over to the farm and used the Bobcat to put a bucket of gravel on the mess before the wife got home. Thinking I need to sort out the lighter colored yellowish jackets before taking them to the salvage yard.

I can remember when I was a kid putting in a new fence in the back of the hilltop pasture. Rented a jack hammer and portable air compressor, used a bit just smaller than the tee posts and drilled nearly every hole through limestone. Those posts are still about as tight as the day we drove them in the holes. That would of been mid '60s

Rain most of the nigh & a cold rain...... Miserable cold wet day. Did not get above 44 deg and dark skies ..but I set out to finish the work on the compost pile. Last evening I raked up 3 cart loads of fresh grass clippings...This morning went out to pick them up but the turf was so soggy Only filled the Garden tractor trailer one time but heaping full! Afraid to do too much damage to the lawn ...Tractor and trailer sunk in pretty bad!
But I had enough grass with that load to get last years pile down to bare ground, Turned and reenergized !
Came in about 1 pm, chilled to the bone, wet and hurting! Back does not like having to turn compost !
Changed work Clothes for comfy clothes, had lunch and took an Advil and got in bed for about 45 minutes....Could have got some sleep but the gray cat decided to make bread in my beard and lay across my neck.....Oh well at least the aches diminished!
Got to get those last 6 soaking wet Grass piles off the lawn tomorrow!

But do you have enough primers to load 18 or 19 rounds? I do

Did yours come with an 18 rounder? Mine came with 16s and truth be told, by the time I shoot 16 I need a short break.

even the dogs are tired from watching us move dirt all day.

Sore, achy, and tired too. Finished ALL of the last, tedious bits of framing and blocking in the addition and cleaned up the mess of scrap roofing metal, decking, and trash. Longest 2x4 left over was about 20", figured it to the last board.

Then I dug out my giant storage tub of wiring stuff and found enough 12-2 grounded Romex to run power and plenty of outlet boxes. Need a shallow 2-gang for the light switches and a steel ceiling fan box and I'll be set. Then insulation and sheetrock. Uggggggggg. At least that stuff hasn't increased 400% in price yet, better get it all bought and home before it does.

After supper I put two shelves in my aerosol cleaner/lube cabinet that is mounted over the parts washer, built it in about 2007 and never got around to putting those in or drilling for shelf pins. Got it done finally and now have room for all my brake cleaner, spray grease, panther piss, etc. Then I went through the pile of clutter on my transmission overhaul bench (opposite my mill bench for those following) and cleaned the steel top. Gave the shop cat a dose of flea killer and called it a night. Took a Benadryl so I could enjoy a couple fingers of single-malt for the first time in many months.

did have a good moment today though.
the neighbor lady [crazy red headed lady] got a new dog, he is a pretty cool little dog. [about the same size as Jax]
he doesn't bark much and stays in his [non fenced] yard.
anyway he was having a total puppy day over there today.
he dug a couple of holes in the big dirt pile she just got, dug up a couple of the flowers she just planted, threw the containers she had out there all over the place and just zoomed around the yard with one of his squeaky toys.
Jax was cool with everything until he started squeaking the toy, then she went over there and took it away from him and brought it out in the middle of the street and dropped it where he couldn't get it, then went back in the backyard where she was supposed to be.

Got my Ruger Old Army listed on another forum, then got a bit frustrated by all the forum lawyers telling me I didn't need to run it through an FFL--I did explain why I was doing that to the only one who asked. Also got 19 emails from folks who saw the post, the nicest one told me I was an idiot (like I didn't know that already?).

Still a bit under the weather but had to run to town. I tossed the 32-20 on the seat because it was sitting there looking neglected. Got a shot at a coyote (four of them, actually). I haven't missed 3 consecutive shots at a coyote in years, I should have checked where those loads were hitting! No surprise, Saint Elmer's recommended load did the job. I just expected it to hit lower than it was. Very embarrassing, but now I can say I did manage to get a coyote with it.

Ripping out the temporary under hood wiring.
I have been running on it ,since I pulled the truck from its grave in the manure pile, over a year ago.
Finally started having issues with my rigging....so
Doing it right.... finally. With new wires and connectors, by the book, factory spec.

That's what am running into with my shed build, right now. The money I put away, when I started the project last year, to buy all the siding, will now only buy 2 pieces. It may end up being sided in tin rather then wood.

It was Arts Day today. Desert X 2021, and I was assigned the duty of ferrying SWMBO all over the Coachella Valley in pursuit of Objets d'art. Unlike the 2019 iteration of the exhibition, I maintained a quiet dignity throughout the shuttling about around Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Desert. I was under strict orders to limit the smart-ass-ery I reveled in 2 years ago, and in the interests of domestic tranquility I toed the line today. Grudgingly.

The art projects on display were actually quite interesting. One was contained within the Annenberg property in Rancho Mirage, and both the artwork (commemorating the qualities of women) and the grounds were EXQUISITE. It has been many years since I have been on the Annenberg estate "Sunnylands", and it has matured very well indeed. The landscaping and floral gardens must be seen to be believed. The artwork was tasteful, respectful, and well-executed.

I am not certain just what a "social media influencer" is, but I saw several of them (all female) within the Sunnylands estate. They were jabbering into cell phones, tittering among themselves, and a few were video-logging as they went about bloviating on subjects related to the artwork, as best I could tell. Once finished with their spiels, they bolted back to their BMWs and Range Rovers and headed off to the next art site on the map. We continued to encounter them as we made the rounds through the several scattered sites, and it was pretty warm outside--between 98* and 104*. These girls were dressed pretty smartly, too--and were obviously from L.A. and Orange County. NOBODY that's local wears black dresses and Prada heels on a Saturday afternoon in heat like this, and drives a black Bimmer or Benzo in the low desert. Purebred city kids, res ipsa loquitor. This was a repeat of the 2019 experience, almost verbatim. I'll bet those poor chicas were ready to melt.

All that said, most of them were very easy on the eyes. There is one thing to be said for art exhibitions--women outnumber the men in attendance several times over, and an unattached male seeking attractive company could do far worse than to infest art exhibitions. We grow too soon old and too late smart.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Looks familiar Ian. I'm using the Milwaukee version of the same bit. I don't see any mud in your pile, I got lots in mine. Some of my holes end up being in what I found out is layers of ledge with a little dirt between them. Drill through the mud into rock, break through into sandy dirt, more rock, and so on. Fun, fun, fun!

Not sure how you handled the up and down since you are using a different type fence than I am, but it's a bear trying to get stuff looking decent. There's a guy on YT named Tim Thompson that a fencing contractor out of Australia. I've picked up a lot of good info from him.

Walter- drive on over here. I have many K rounds that need to be shot and help would be appreciated. I can send you home with some brass and powder as well.
