This should work much better.

Bench is no longer a virgin, both John and me shot a few rounds from it today. :D And yes Brad, the hillbilly construction held up the rifle just fine, didn't fall over or anything.

If I come to your place to build that roof, you may have trouble getting rid of me. Plus, I'd have to drive so I could bring a few toys to test under the new roof. Along with toys, I'd have to bring a couple of cases of Malbec.

I'll take care of the toys and the Malbec, too! That way you don't have to tote them back.

Any plans to stain/seal that lumber after it dries out a bit? The old top on mine ended up like a bunch of tacos lined up after a couple of years and I had to put some pressure-treated plywood over the top. I figured out later that some of the newer coatings would have helped prevent the curling.

It is pressure treated 2x8's which should hold up pretty well. Pressure treated is pretty wet stuff from all the chemicals they pump into it so will take some time to dry out enough to paint. When I built my front porch railings from pressure treated it took about 9 months for it dry enough for painting. We will probably put a coat or two of primer and deck paint on it next summer.
