I bought a Craftsman 42" tractor 9 or 10 years ago for $1050.00 on sale and it's worked great without any problems. Who's it was a 46", but, it works good.

There is a personal property tax here, I asked about the mowers and there is no need to declare them.

Lawn mover tax? Not even tax everything California has stooped that low.

If and when I ever buy a mower, there is absolutely no way I would buy anything smaller than a 60" zero-turn. My neighbor handles his like he was born on it and it still takes him 2 hours on our grass.

riding lawnmowers,
I imagine I have mentioned this, but I'll mention it again. I have a standard city lot with many fruit trees and plantings and row gardens (with grass in between) ...and have always used a walk-behind mower. A couple years ago, before my knee replacement, my knee was getting to where I had a hard time walking the lawnmower. I found a 25" Snapper rear engine Rider that needed a engine...you got that right, only 25"...my push mower is 21"...but once I swapped out the engine for one I salvaged, the small 25" Rider was just the thing for my complicated lawn/garden.

I mow probably 5 acres, chopped up into several different time intervals. I'm about to turn 70 years old, with two total knee replacements, under my belt. No riding mower or zero turn. Just a Honda self propelled walk behind. With all the inclines, a self propelled is a must. With all the rocks, I'm not investing in a high priced piece of equipment that's gonna get abused..................no way I can get rid of all the semi exposed rocks, in Rock-in-saw. Besides it's the only exercise I get.

I bought my wife a 54 in zero turn to go with the 6 foot finish mower on the hydro static drive tractor. She can now get the grass cut in 2 days.

you gotta be more specific than that.
now days that could mean a trip to chucky cheese, or over to walmart's clearance section.

Stay out of the ball pit! That’s where they find all the needles at Chucky Cheese.

They must know that it is not hunting season. I was up at my hunting property this week and I spotted a group of eleven. I got out of the car and looked at them. They ignored me! I rode around for about an hour and when I came back they were in the same area and once again didn't object to my intrusion.

I don't see this kind of behavior during hunting season.

Even in season we see lots of them as we live in town. These are very safe from hunters.
We have some pretty damn tame deer too

Outskirts of Sacramento, CA has a pretty fair population of turkey. Wish we had them here. What we see most of recently are predators. Heating up the Kamado last evening and caught a peek at a fox checking out our northeast lawn.

Ahi tuna steaks came out excellent.
