With no thanks to Lyndon and Lady Bird, while driving from one area of town to another, a distance of less than a quarter-mile, one of town's two main streets goes through a tunnel. In league with the stupid drivers who stop and back up traffic so Canada Geese can cross a four-lane road are the stupid drivers who insist on honking their Japanese-pitched horns while driving through the tunnel.

Whatever happened to horns tuned to American ears? My '95 F-150 has a real horn. Maybe I ought to honk it next time I'm in the tunnel and let people hear what one sounds like. No, I better not -- don't want anyone to think I'm one of those stupid drivers who honks his horn in the tunnel.

When I call a doctor's office and ask to speak to someone in particular, why do the telephone answerers always ask my birth date and what it is I'm calling about. My age and reason for calling is none of their business. Transfer me to the person I requested and ask your stupid questions of the next caller in your office's many-minutes-long phone queue.

Evidently three days of sunshine, instead of June Gloom, has made me grouchy.

Yep, that's it. They are looking up your record by DOB first. I work on a software dev team and that is a common sort filter.

Yeah, but I asked to speak to a particular person. For the answerer to comply does not require anything more than, "Sure, I will transfer you." If I were calling to make an appointment then my name and date of birth would be important for the answerer to know.

Our doc went through a digital update some time ago and while my height to weight definitely makes me morbidly obese , my back and thighs probably carry 1/2 of my muscle structure mass and a full 1/4 of my total weight. I'd just lost 25# but only about 2" off my waist and none of my thick neck . He fixed it but but I'm still diabetic despite dropping the OJ and almost all of the snacky stuff and drinking nothing but water all day ........

American accented English. I like it
