Drove back from Idaho Falls today. Took the high country route back, through INL, Arco, Carey, Fairfield, etc...
It was bright sunshine and no clouds. Only 9-27 degrees on the drive, but the sun on the snow was absolutely beautiful!20230317_100112.jpg

how the hell can they keep a road out in the middle of nowhere that good, and i still have a 3' tall X 6' wide pile of ice 10' out of my driveway.
no wonder we get voted worst roads in the state every year.

I've driven this road a half dozen times in the last couple of years, in the winter, after checking road conditions and weather reports to make sure I'm not being lead astray - and it amazes me how clear it is.
Don't let that section fool you about the road surface condition though. A lot of it is falling apart. LOTS of potholes and ROUGH sections.

---but you're right - no ice or snow!

Hot dog! 7* above this morning going up to 33* above. Looks like the below zero temperatures are in the rearview mirror!
Basically no wind. That is the normal here. I really do not like windy conditions and feel sorry for you guys that might have nicer temperatures and less snow, but I don’t have to tie my hat on my head.
Yeah those nicer temperatures go right out the window with wind.

^^^^Currently, 36* with full sun. However, we have 10-15 mph NW winds. Just took delivery on a shipment from RotoMetals via USPS. Took 70# box out of the mail lady's SUV. Certainly, doesn't feel like 36* outside.

Being on the edge of a small (5,000 acres g/t) valley, I think we get a bit more wind than most. When the weather guessers say 12 MPH winds that ends up being our minimum velocity. 12 MPH usually means we'll be getting 20+ MPH gusts. At least most of the leaves have gone out to the road or down to the tree line.

Awoke to 10° with a nasty north breeze and spitting light snow. And.....of course I listed the Super 88 for sale yesterday and was inundated with messages and calls. Try to get an classic started at 10° that hasn't been started since the third week of January. By 10 after 11 I had her burbling away thru the glass packs in the shed. First guys that showed up bought after 10 minutes of looking. Paid my asking price.

29° in the pre dawn darkness. A definite improvement. Got close to 40° yesterday late afternoon so we went for our walk, straight into about about a 10mph wind out of the West. The walk back home with the wind at our backs was down right pleasant.
