Hi,
I've been trying to get my hands on some 44 Mag. Brass and...

From stores to people on the Forums, can't find any???

If there is no powder and primers to load brass, why the shortage on brass???

Last week, Starline had 44 Mag brass in stock. Probably, gone by now. Need to keep checking suppliers. Hit or miss, nowadays.

The general panic isn't helping much.
A quick look at some webpages for used brass shows that the oddball stuff is available. The more common calibers are likely being impacted by the general reduction in shooting due to cost. There just isn't as much in circulation as in times past. That will return at some point, but it may take a while for that "used brass" pipeline top fill back up.

Hi,
Well...I stocked up when it looked like they were going to install Hillary in the White House, but...

That was mostly for 45 Auto and 9MM, which I shoot the most of.

Now I'm getting a new barrel for my Contender and need some 44 Mag. and nothing coming up!

Never thought, I would see this?

Hi,
It's weird, I have some really nice Military 38 spl brass to sale or trade and nobody wants it???
I saw you WTT and thought about it but two things came to mind. How would I replace my .44 mag brass? Next, I have always had problems with military .38 spl brass being so thick that it squeezes down my cast bullets when I seat. One of those oh gee, I'd like to help the guy out but....

Hi,
Well, I've never had any problem with the 38 brass I have...

If I did, I wouldn't sell it or trade it.

It's top quality brass.

I've sold some of it, a few years ago, and the guy wanted to buy more, but I wouldn't sale more at that time.

As always, trying to do a swap requires finding someone who has what you want and wants what you have. (That's why I still have a 32-20, and a Lee-Enfield 410, entirely too many knives, etc.) I think I've got some 44 mag brass, but it is probably less-desired (2-3x fired), and I've already got a few cans of 38 brass.

I should explain. When my wife and I shot cowboy action we tried to be somewhat authentic. She shot Cimarron 1851 Richard/Mason conversion clones in .38 spl and a Rossi 1892 clone in .357. She found the 1866 rifle clone to be awkwardly heavy for her. We had some issues with using her revolver load in her carbine. We shot full BP loads in everything and replicating the .38 Long Colts for her revolvers with 130 grain bullets in .38 spl brass with 21 grains of 3f we found them to be too short to work in the Rossi. Rather than go to .357 brass in the carbine I loaded the 195 grain Lyman 358430 and they fed and cycled fine but hit too high in the revolver. So we used two different ammos but they were identifiable at a glance and we didn't have an issue with that. Because I loaded our BP ammo with the bullets as cast and pan lubed with NASA lube I was acutely aware of difference in brass thickness. I kept all of our brass brass, (as opposed to nickel), for the cowboy action because just like smokeless powder for pre 1895 personnas, nickeled cases offended my sense of propriety. The 1892 Rossi clone was a hard enough pill to swallow but I liked having my wife shoot with me.

The military surplus brass was noticeably thicker and gave me grief seating those fat 358430's, but I needed them because they were brass, so I lived with it.

There is some at CB, is the price too high for you?
Hi,
Thanks, I'll have to look?

I usually just buy "Once Fired" from a Dealer, but things have changed and do not really want to buy someones shot out brass they are looking to unload...

Yes, that happens, a lot of crazy out there now!

I already have about 2K of good military .38, most of it loaded by me. It's good stuff but varies wildly by contractor and needs to be sorted accordingly. I don't have enough extra .44 magnum in honest and certain 1F condition to trade.

44 Mag is or seems ta be one just not often offered. Either its horded or as I feel just not shot a whole lot.
