This thread is really not helping any with my mid-life crisis.

I really want to buy a convertible! A Ruger 45LC/45ACP convertible.

I’m constantly reminding my wife that guns are much cheaper than sports cars and luxury editions trucks.

The 423 also works mighty fine in 45acp autoloaders :) I looks odd when it's next to a 200gr swc, but nails pine cones and other targets of opportunity with a good wollop!

A couple other folks here have mentioned this capability of "423". I plan on giving that a try in my 45 ACP bottom-feeders as well as the 625 and the 45 Colts.

That "7.2 grains of Bullseye" got my attention, for certain. I am extremely cautious about free-lancing with any of the fast-burners like Bullseye, Red Dot, or WW-231/HP-38. I tread the Straight & Narrow (published data) with those fuels. It is interesting to read that Bullseye civilizes itself in an expanded environment. Still not gonna Go A Little Wide with those powders.

Me, too!! I reckon we'll be mining moon gold about the same time Ruger re-starts manufacturing single-action revolvers.

I bought one marked 45 Colts . Then I managed to buy a 45 ACP cylinder that needed just a ........well let's say it slips in and turns free and there's still blue machine marks across the nose . It lined up perfect , timed perfect , 6 matching holes that will chamber a .454 , exit .453 into a .452 groove . It has .0035 on the heads and the same at the front end . I gave the guy $25 and ran . Mean while I have another cyl that needs a .004 shim out in front . It index's as close as the other but has front to rear slop I'm thinking very seriously on getting it turned and reamed to correct the end play with the rim thickness for Schofield and Colts and ream it to Schofield .

I have a Blackhawk in 45 Colt that is way more accurate than it should be. I opened the .449 throats to .452 years ago with a split rod, drill, emery paper, and oil. I used a .452 jacketed bullet as a gauge. Never felt a need for a 45 ACP cylinder?

My S&W Model 25 45 Colt is even more accurate.

Hilarious you posted this! I took care of the "crisis" few years ago. 44 SPC NM Flattop, followed shortly by the 45 Conv. And just put the 45 ACP cyl in the 45 to shoot with the 1917. And, I have a 44-40 cylinder on the list for the 44 SPC to make it a "conv" too!

AND - I keep telling my wife (just last night!) she is VERY lucky I took the gun fork in the road instead of the car fork. Prob cause I went into the Army. Was a car nut when younger (guns too). But cars are a LOT harder to move around!

Nice Kevin!
A lot of very nice shooters in this thread. Makes me want to go out and get a job so I can invest in a 625 with a under lug. But that's not going to happen.
Awesome revolvers.

The .45AR loaded with the #452423 over 5.5grs of Unique has been a "Family" load for me since forever.
These Days I cast it with a N.O.E. 5 cavity mold.
In a S&W M1917, M25 & Ruger Blackhawk Convertible.

I stuck with a moderate load of unique... 5.0 to 5.4gr, and was really happy with results. That charge of BE is what my 03's like behind a cast plinking load!

I no longer cast the #454424 for the .45 Colt.
The N.O.E. Bullet drops at 245grs with my alloy. I now use it for both cartridges.
It cuts a very Clean hole in the paper.

Being a big DA revolver shooter (see above) I don't like SA revolvers (except Bisley's) because of the grip but one of the few SA revolvers I have is a 70's era Blackhawk in .45 LC and .45 ACP.

When I was a kid a friend of the family gave my brother and I a roll of Indian Head pennies each. We were told to put them in a safe place. We did.....seems like the bag full of penny candy felt pretty safe in our bellies. I really wish we wouldn't have done that.

Just to egg you on a little bit. Here is my Ruger Lipsey’s 45 convertible. Feel free to show the wife. You’re welcome.938E67A1-FF5B-4F1B-8F81-D841B4C5B7A7.jpegD20CF6C1-85B7-41E2-B01A-74675951B21C.jpeg

Anyone ever mention that your barrel is a bit short?

That would be one nice rig with maybe an inch more barrel. It's nice as it sits, too--but I like at least 4" on a critter-hunting handgun.
