It is endemic everywhere....not just California. City folk move to rural communities and demand all the amenities and problems of the cities they fled. My brother has a neighbor in a small rural township who constantly complains that there are no streetlights, and 24 hr. police patrol for her protection. After listening to her tirade at a supervisors meeting my brother suggested she might purchase and learn to use a gun as the response time from with the sheriff's office or state police could be a long time coming. She almost fainted. She left the city and wants all the trapping of one at her hobby farm in the country.
