nooo the new formulation is.
they've re-branded the old name with the N.F. designation and it has new data out for it.

the old stuff was it's own stuff.

you don't even wanna know what Promo is made from... LOL
You opened the can of worms, let 'em crawl. What's up with Promo?

Well if you are sitting on the fence because of prices, you better jump off and get what you can get. Nitrocellulose is in very short supply. Shorter than it has ever been. Look and see what it is used in. Gun powder is just one thing. This is the reason there are lots of warnings out right now. If you like SW powders you better jump fast as they already said no more shipments till late 24 or even past that.

Fence sitters just missed out.

I think I got the last caddy of Bullseye because my buddy was placing an order in parallel at the same time and his order failed.

With the increases in prices across the board for everything we consume in life, I didn't think $40 a pound was outrageous. I think I paid $30 a pound the last time I ordered some 10 years ago.

that new powder perfect pattern is pretty much titegroup in a new jug.
nitro-100NF is also titegroup.. the NF means new formulation,,,, aka easy to make cheap powder.
How do you keep track of this stuff? Honestly, there are so many new powders that I have no idea what fits what anymore. I became overwhelmed about the time Lil' gun and Trail Boss showed up and my eyes sort of glazed over after that.

I wonder if that's related to the lumber industry at all or if it's at the chemical end of things? Maybe it's even further downstream than that.

i try to keep some of it locked in since i never know what i'll find around here.
i got nuthin on those ind err enduron powders that came and went after a couple of years, they were just an overlap of stuff i already had.

okay so Promo... LOL
it's basically red-dot or american select that doesn't meet the standards for burn rate or quality..
generally what they'll do is blend a failed batch of two powders,,,[or returned batches that fail testing from various customers] and occasionally sumthin else will get thrown in the mix to get the burn rate back the same as red-dot.
so what you end up with is a different density each and every batch and have to adjust your bushing size/powder throw for that batch of powder.
anyway.
that's why when you open a bottle of Promo and look at the flakes at least half of them are all dog eared or folded in half or chipped.

the Irony is they do exactly what they tell you not to do on the back of every bottle of powder out there.

Large, somewhat local dealer seemed to have a decent supply of powder and primers. I was genuinely surprised to see 8# jugs of 2400, Green Dot, and Bullseye. Lots of IMR powder choices, less so Winchester and Accurate Arms.

Ball powders seem to always be less expensive than extruded by almost $10/#.

Large rifle primers seemed notably absent, but lots of small rifle and pistol. F205s $350/5K

The popularity of .223 and 9mm are why SR and SP primers are the most prevalent.

Bad enough, but I was braced for worse. Good to know though, thank you!

Getting down to my last couple Cheerios, in the box myself.

I went to the big box store twice last week. They had basically everything But Universal, Unique, or Allient stuff. I kinda have issues with buying on line because of hazmat and so forth. But may have to do that. However I think I will do without before I pay more then $30 a lb. For Universal.

I got my caddy of Bullseye I ordered last week.

I look at it this way - everything we buy has gone up a lot since this last administration change. So I really don't have high expectations that powder and primers will come down to pre 2020 levels anytime soon. Yes, they have come down a little, and it was smart not to buy at the prohibitive prices we have recently seen.

What I do know is that this happens in cycles, and in my opinion it is foolish to not stock up when it is available. When you have no more and little if any prospects of finding any- the current prices will seem very attractive.

One global boo-boo happens, and the shelves will be cleaned out quicker than toilet paper during the time of the dirty masks....

Exactly. I held off and only bought more powder when some sale prices got below the $30 to $35 per lb point last year. The only exception to this is the Unique I just purchased. Inflation makes it impossible for prices to return to the same numbers as before, but even adjusted for inflation we are still seeing high prices, especially on primers. I got 5,000 of those Argentinian SP primers a little while ago since SP is the one I didn't have a deep enough stock of. The next time prices are relatively normal, I'm going to make sure I get enough primers to last me the rest of my life. Most likely I'll be optimistic and get more than I can use. Someday someone is going to be posting their score from my estate sale.
