At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

varget-4064-rl-15
4895-2495 rl sumthin or other 12?

you were already using the Alcan-5 clone err the unique clone, might as well use the other close-nuff.
or get some BE-86,, it's the slightly slower version.
I wish there was a chart listing the brand to brand crossovers.

I gave Titegroup a really good try in 38spl for 150gr competition loads. I found the forcing cone was exceptionally HOT during testing and practice. I went back to WST for those loads. That said, I just bought 4lbs to go along with the 8lb of Unique I picked up. Titegroup will be used as a replacement for Bullseye in 9x19. This Unique was hard to come by, so I'll reserve that for 38spl +P and cast bullet rifle loads.

Mid south has free hazmat on powder and primers. I went ahead and bought 4 singles of unique. Wanting to try it in my 30-06 load I’m working on now. They still have some unique and bullseye.

Wow, no thanks. 45 a pound.
Yep, was just on their site and didn't see anything about free HazMat. Primers are aren't cheap either, averaging $95/thousand, if even in stock. Unique comes in 4 and 8# jugs. When in stock, it's about $37/pound. Last primers I purchased, during this current shortage, were from Norma Shooting. They came to $45/thousand for SPP with always free shipping on orders of $149 or more, and free HazMat...............that tells me HazMat is optional and a just way for greedy sellers to make even more profit.

Sorry you have to have a promo code it’s FHM01E. Forgot about That.

Beggars can’t be choosers. 45 was steep, but it is what it is. Picked up 2 pounds of Bullseye just for kicks at LGS and it was 42.79 a pound OTD. About a 35% increase from normal prices 4 years ago.

Alliants powders are stupid high, aaand they ain't comin down.

I have enough Red Dot. And I can get the rest of pistol spectrum with w231. Which I have 4 lb and can get still local for $110/ 4 lb.
So Universal or Unique can wait at that price.

Plus making a Run To Dunham's this Weekend.
Just called this morning, he has a few 4lbs of 20/ 28 left at 120. Then it is Going up to 145 a 4lb. He says it has been flying off the shelf at that.
He is putting One back for me.

Been doing research on 20 28. From what is known, it is basically a cleaner version of Universal. A step away on the Burn charts towards W231. Not as dense as Universal but meters better.
Not a lot of data outside of shot gun. But people have been duplicating Universal loads with it.
Either Dead On. Or .2 down in grains, from 38 special to rifle.

E mailed Hodgden. They said they have not completed testing with it, other than shot gun.

yep,,, they never had data for international clays in handguns either.
then suddenly it popped up in one of their cowboy action pamphlets, never to be seen again.... LOL
green-dot data works just fine for it..

I don't know if it's optional or not, but, Natchez, Brownells, and Midsouth often have no-hazmat sales if you buy over $99, which isn't hard to do. Clearly they are making some money at these prices.

Yeah, I know and watch the ads and get their emails. I don't purchase unless free shipping and or HazMat. Making the minimum isn't an issue if you buy 8#ers..............which is the most economical way to go.

Yes, a chart would be great, to include the vintage, no longer available powders too.
Try this one:

I was going to attach it, but even though it's only 2.8 MB, the site says it's too big. What is this? The 1990s?

If you search for "relative powder burn rate chart", there are several on the internet to find.

I've noticed that some powders move around on these a bit depending on which chart you're looking at, so you kind of have to look on several to get an idea.

TXTad,
I was replying to Bret.
I have numerous burn rate charts, I want to see a chart that tells me that Hodgdon H110 is exactly the same as Winchester 296...and all the others that are chemically identical...not just similar burn rates.
.
BTW, your chart has Red Dot and Promo about a half mile apart

That would be a useful chart. I think that the QuickLoad program has a lot of data that more or less proves what is what. One of these days I'll spring for that software.

That's what I meant about having to look at several. This format is great, but every single chart like this that I have found has at least a little bit of stupidity like that. It's one thing to list two similar powders out of order from one chart to the other, it's quite another things when you have them going faster or slower by a dozen slots.

especially when the one is blended to exactly match the other in burn speed [and made from the exact same base ingredients] so you can use it's data.

I recently came across some Winchester WAP that I "inherited" 20 years from a friend who stopped reloading. I knew I had a single pound, but then I dug deeper and realized that I also have an unopened 4# can. Some internet research indicated that it's the same as Ramshot Silhouette. Several burn rate charts indicated this is very possible, though one or two wanted to tell me it was faster than Unique! Regardless, I now have a new chronograph and a bottle of Silhouette. I'll know for sure before long.

yeah,, win and their powder of the month.
i got some AAP powder they made for like 2 weeks and i think somehow i got all 16lbs. of it.
i have a good shot shell load for it so i know i can ''extrapolate'' [don't do that at home kids] some pistol loads too.

Lamar, I want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.
You're saying that a guy can use Green Dot data for handgun loads with International Clays?
