Well I just bought one pound of Titegroup for $27.99 at BiMart, wanted 2 but only one on the shelf. Of course Titegroup seems to be one of the inexpensive powders out there.

it's all over the place too.
i don't know how much they made their last batch, but it seems to be hanging on for a long time.

I was just at Cabela’s and picked up a pound of accurate arms number seven. They had like eight or 10 pounds of tight group on the shelf. They were charging $32 a pound.

most people i shoot with will not shoot TG. I like it for certain things. I am not afraid to use it. It works very well in most standard handgun rounds.

Prices are still way messed up. According to the inflation calculator website, if I'm remembering correctly that powder was about $12.95 lb in in 1999, powder should be about $24 lb. Even allowing for a bit more than inflation, it still too darn high.

Accurate and Winchester powders are bargains, right now. Accurate has been since the 80's. I keep a lot of Accurate powders around. AA#7 is purchased in 8# jugs. I use it for 9mm and 44 Special. Yesterday, I took the 24-3 out back and touched off 30 rounds of #7 under a 240 SWC. First shooting session since the recent (6 weeks ago) shoulder surgery.

I like to support my LGS, but not if they don't return the favor. It wouldn't take many pounds at these prices to cover the hazmat and come out ahead: https://www.powdervalley.com/product/accurate-7/

Wait around and there's usually a no shipping sale if you buy $99 or more. Natchez and Midsouth like those.

I usually find powder local cheaper then I can get it on line. Usually when I am not looking for it there.
Still on a hunt for Universal or Unique.
Went to Dawson's, nope. ,He had plenty of Winchester stuff though.
Tried a couple other places on and off line. Nope.
Was in Dunham's Sports. Picked up some boot socks. Swung over to the Gun section. Same deal. Any primer you would want but light on the Alliant powders. Or any Hodgden Clone of an Alliant powder.
Winchester galore.

The manager told me his Jobber is going to have Either
H-Universal Or Unique available in late May. Depending on what One a batch gets made of. And if nothing gets blocked coming out of Canada. Apparently that is either where it is made or distributed from, at least to them.
So I think I will streach out my last few ounces. And wait to see if it is true.

I don’t understand why no one likes titegrouop. I’ve been shooting it since I started loading and have had no issues with it. It has always been cheap compared to most others. The only thing that folks may not like is it blacks the case mouths on almost every caliber I load it for. Not a big deal for me, but I could see where it might deter some. I’ve got about 10 pounds of it stashed away. That should keep me on the bang business for many many many years.

Hodgdon is using it in a lot of their subsonic load data now. If you have not checked it out they have updated the data center site and added muzzleloader data and subsonic data. It can also be found in their 2024 magazine.

They have Tight Group 4 lbs here local, at Dunham's for $106.
If I knew for sure, it could give the full range of accurate loads, in .357-38. Like I get with Universal. I might be tempted.

But then again I already put in the work with 357 and Universal, and Red Dot. And moved on to other calibers to developed loads in.

they ain't even gonna think about making any of the clay's powders until the end of this year at the soonest.
that pretty much puts them on the shelves in about march 2025.
or that's the word on the street as of 2022-23 anyway.
you shoulda snagged some of that unique last week,,, or start looking for some 20/28.

titegroup is not even close to unique.
it has a lot of problems, but works good in the bigger pistol cases at moderate target type speeds.

it's turning into what i predicted about it years ago and is finally starting to be the new kid on the scene in the shot shell world.

There is 20 / 28 all over the place around here in 4 lbs. I thought it was shotgun only. So I never even flinched when I walked past it. Because I already have my one 20 gauge shot gun, rabbit and squirrel paper, load developed.

I used titegroup and liked it for jacketed 9mm and 40. When I started loading cast (Commercial bullets) I thought the titegroup gave me lead fouling, so I quit using it. As I look back, I'm pretty such the powder wasn't the problem, LOL. But I switched over to Unique and Red Dot for those loads...so I still have quite a few pounds of titegroup on the shelf, that I haven't touched in 15+ years?

I like Titegroup, for some things. It is what I use for 38 special and in time will go into 45 ACP too.
Might be why I have about 20 pounds?

IIRC i gave my BIL 4 lbs of titegroup.
don't even notice it's gone since i needed the room more than the powder.
yep the room to put the other 24 lbs. there,, it was probably 10-12 bucks a LB. when i bought it.
