In 25, big game starts @ 87g.

SO.... back around 2010/11 I discovered the 300 Blk. Really enjoying the caliber I soon discovered its limitations to my hunting conditions and style. Its sub 1500 fpe really left me wanting. I started looking for just a little more. I wanted confidence to humanly drop a deer out @ 200 yards. The blackout just cannot do that humainely. So I discovered this caliber. The 25/45 Sharps it is a 25 cal so smaller dia also slightly lighter bullets but at enough more velocity to gain almost 500 fpe over my 125g 2200 fps 300 BO load. That produced under 1400 fpe. My chosen load is a 110g bullet @ 2650 fps and over 1700 fpe.

Hornady brought out a 110 FTX bullet for the 25/35 and even its cannalure placement was spot on for use in the 25/45!

These two are taken with the 110g FTX couple

Pretty close!! Its of imperative importance for so many for that to come available in a AR-15. So thats the second attractor. (For man) So "almost" 250Savage ballistics in a ar-15!

Truthfully its easy shooting and accurate. I dont need to push it and altho I tried all I was rewarded with was loose primer pockets and scarred up brass bases. Plus never could achieve 3K with a 87g!!!

My Sierra 90g HPBT GAMEKINGS shoot really well @ 2800+ fps. They also preform well and probably would begin to show coming apart with 200 fps more. I have taken three deer with these and suprisingly smallest deer a yearling buck had one bullet fail ta exit. I remember one rib hit but probably two. Other two had tbru and theu with nice exits and rapid short recoveries.
I have taken two or three with a 25/35 H&R I had built years ago. Shooting 117 RN hand loads. One I remember best, was shot twice! Both good shots and was alive when I walked up on him. Quartering away thru vitals and base of neck broad side second. Both inside 75 yards. Needless ta say, I was NOT IMPRESSED.

The 25/45 has worked well
On lungs base of neck and sholders.

That's an interesting cartridge. My wife uses a .250 Savage and we've been happier with the 87gr Speer and 100gr NBT for deer. Early on I tried 117gr RN and 117gr btsp but soon discovered that the deer dropped sooner with the "varmint" bullets. I even switched to those two bullets in the 25-06 and it works great there also.
I like the .300BO but I don't consider it suitable for 200yards either. I have no use for subsonic loads- I want all the horsepower available.
I recently built a 6.8 x43 AR, and it is my "almost .250 Savage" round.
And the very first try with cast was successful! I suspected that it would work with the ten twist- and it does.
I wanted an AR that does well with cast for cheap practice. The seven twist on my .300BO would not shoot cast supersonic well enough to suit me.
Once my wife just grabbed some .250 ammo and got in the blind. Two hours and two shots later, she had two does on the ground. Before field dressing, she asked me to unload her gun since her hands were too cold. I was surprised to find 3 rounds of "Prairie Dog" loads- 75gr hp/3300fps!
The deer didn't notice- they just died on the spot.
I enjoyed the video, CW. Keep them coming!

There's the cutest little .250-3000 around here, a tang safety Ruger International. If I had my way they'd have put two more inches on the barrel. Anyway, I run it hard and have shot several deer with the 117 Hornady round nose. Typically they go about 20 to 30 yards and pile up. My wife shot a buck with the 100 grain NBT bullet. I heard the shot and waited 10 minutes and called her on the walkie talkie. I asked, "Did you get one?" "Yes" she replied, "A 6pt. buck." "Is he down?" "Yup" was her answer. "How far did it go?" She said, "About 3 feet." I headed over to her and she pointed out the buck. I looked and in the 3" of snow I could see it had not taken a step. I said, "I thought you said it went three feet?" Sue said, "Yeah, it fell straight down about 3 feet."

Around 1990 I shot 4 antelope with it with 87 grain Hornady spire points. I probably never needed to change loads.

These cartridges that are just necked up from the 223 case can really shine. I used to have a 7mm TCU in a contender and a 6mm tcu also. They ran about the same speeds that the 223 did.

I really had the itch to have MGM make a rifle barrel for my Contender in that caliber. Not for use on deer, but mainly to use as a .25-20 that I could have limitless brass for since .223 is so common. Has anyone tried lower level cast small game loads in one? No interest in an AR platform.

Can anyone please you as well as yourself?? I mean dont you buy things for yourself? Dont you do things that YOU like to do?? Every single one of us posting, makes a post about what we have done or accomplished or achieved.

Sorry, you see this as something different from others posts. If you like, I can offer a refund your costs involved here... Ooh wait, it was freely offered.
So, maybe just take it for how it was offered? Hopefully what ever is offered next, will be of more value.

CW contributes greatly to this Forum in bring information, his perspective on a subject, generosity to Forum members. I have been the recipient of the generosity just in the past week, totally unexpected and unasked for.
you might be confusing enthusiasm with self absorption. I appreciate CW’s perspective freely given.

One of the features of this forum is the "ignore" function. If someone's posts really bother you try using this.

Just my style but I've learned not to criticize another member personally. I may disagree with what they say in a technical sense and try to state my reasons for doing so, but that isn't the same thing. If for some reason I get to where I don't enjoy reading someone's posts then I put them on the ignore list and go on about my business. I got better things to do than get irritated by somebody I've never even met in person!

Not every post is filled with golden nuggets of wisdom, sometimes it's just musings or the online equivalent of social "small talk" or whatever.

I read that as sarcasm........

Lotta typing to say so little...,. Followed a 4 line post that read "I got an atta boy from THE guy" .

Probably just me though .

See, that is how online stuff gets (mis)interpreted. Without the other clues - hearing someone's tone of voice, seeing the expression on their face, etc., - that face to face interactions provide, it is easy to misread someone's real meaning at times.

I 100% agree Keith. But every forum I have seen offers gremlin's to help express sarcasm and Satire.
Now, know Im not mad or upset or even really bothered by it. We are all our own people. How boring it would be if we was all the same. Without differing opinions how would we advance and become "better".

But, I offer the use of gremlin's would have changed this entirely. I thank everyone for there comments. Enough lets talk more guns loading and casting!! ;):p

Thanks for the interesting thread. It added to my education. I clicked on it thinking it must be something like the 38/45 Clerke, but couldn't wrap my brain around THAT. ;)

It looks like a fun cartridge, like a Big Brother to the 6x47 I owned some years ago.
