Added some yard trimmings to my compost bin. Mowed the lawn earlier in the week, it had a lot of dandelions in it, but I need some compost for next year. The town has a nice big pile of manure they took out of the rodeo grounds earlier this spring, called the town office and they sent one of the guys with a back hoe to meet me. Three scoops later, mix it in with grass, should "cook" the flowers/buds nicely. Anyway.. stuck the pitch fork to turn the mix over and make a place for today's additional, could feel the heat coming off. Grabbed a handful, too hot to hold for any length of time. My luck it will catch fire. The volunteer fire dept chief is my neighbor.

Bubba's cuzin and brother Daryle sayz to him, "Hay Bubba wat yew zay bout us gittin us a cuple 12 paks and a kan of that powder Gramps uses in hiz ole muzzle loader and put da kan whay down in da midel of the pile and we can sit on da poorch and see if anythin happenz.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
If memory serves it wasn't a trespasser they were looking for, was I believe an escaped felon. They thought they had tracked him to John's property. Didn't find him there though.
Ah, that sounds a lot more likely.

Maybe there's some setting I missed on the map thingy or something, but I'm seriously digging out my old Rand McNally atlas's and using them from now on!

GPS units are much the same. A week ago when going to pick up the puppy I used the GPS to find the kennel, added at least 45 minutes to the drive not to mention driving in circles down gravel roads that couldn't really be called roads. Was heading west on state route 202 and the GPS tried to tell me the place was on both sides of the highway. It said turn right (north) but that gravel road turned into a dead end cow path. Back on the 202 heading west again and the GPS says turn left (south) down another gravel road. Finally found a lady on a lawn mower & asked her, she said she volunteers at the kennel, she got in her car and I followed her down three more gravel roads. Damned GPS didn't have a clue, I would still be driving in circles down cow paths.

Went to the ranch thurs, back last nite, I'm worn out again. Did a stupid and got the atv stuck in quick sand. Winch on the gater got it out pretty easy but the 1/2 mi uphill walk back to the house was no fun. His JD mower keeps cutting out so I cleaned the air filter real good, no fixy. That is the weirdest set up I've ever seen. Inlet is a slit in a rubber 'boot' about 1/8" wide and 2" long. He thinks bad gas is problem. Didn't get as much done as I wanted but her trees and garden(corn, onions, garlic, beans, squash ) doing OK, she planted same taters and more beans. Orphan dog got me good on the arm with his paw, tried to pet the belly and he moved. Took the Beretta 12ga down for SIL to use. Steel rated and he wants ducks. His 870 won't do and it's too heavy for me anymore. Couple grad parties (?) today, block party with friends (he's got bad cancer again). Then another grad ceremony outside. Got the tally rings and picatinny rail in for the scope but other things going on.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
I'm constantly amused by the lost tourists and their navigation systems that have lead them astray. What's even more comical are the lost bicyclists' who are stopped and looking at their phones.

Of course the winding and seemingly aimless cowpaths, dating back to the 1700s, that eventually got paved and became streets, three-way and five-way intersections, two-direction streets that become one-way streets and the other way round, no left-turns and no right-turns, dead-ends and cul-d-sacs, a street that changes names three times in four blocks, a six-way round-about, or Lighthouse Avenue in one city that becomes Central Avenue in the second as it crosses the line, but Lighthouse Avenue in the second city is one block up and called Hawthorne Street in the first city just may add to their confusion and lostness.

Gal Crayon writers design the roads anymore. And their brothers do the signage. Glad (kinda) that I was going INTO Dallas yesterday, freeways were clogged going the other way. Normally bad at rush hour but with the holiday, true mess.

Sounds like the area around Mountain Home Square. No rhyme or reason. Metro Detroit is famous for streets changing the names two to three times. IE, Sixteen Mile Road, Big Beaver and Metro Parkway. :headbang:

I got the zucchinis and tomatoes planted yesterday.
Finished tilling the last half of the garden. For the 5th time to clear the weeds.
A lingering light rainstorm came in last night.
Not much rain, but enough to make to top muddy.

Went and shot two rounds of trap. Second at the 20 yard mark and actually did a little better than at the 16 yard, but I'm way out of practice, need to get out there more. Had to delay shooting to help the guys go put out a grass fire down range, strange since it poured continuously for three days only letting up yesterday morning.

My standard load so far as been 1 1/8 ounce of 7 1/2s in AA hulls, with an AA wad and 18.5 grains of 700X. Talking to an older and much more experienced shooter, he said he settled on a "fast" one ounce load for all his shooting. Not sure what fast means, but he uses Red Dot. I have quite a few Federal hulls and some 12S0 wads, thinking of trying this if I can find a load with a powder I have on hand.

Went shopping after I got up. We just got home, got stuff put away, frozen pizza in the oven.

Man a lot of shelves were unusually bare.

Had to get the boy some clothes for summer. He was down to a couple shirts and one pair of pants. We lucked out because Wall Mart was clearance marking men's clothes.
They had kemshi at Wally world,my son asked me what it was. I am like, let's get some and find out. Of course I already know. But looking forward watching him discover it.

Apparently there is a sock shortage. I needed some and had to buy the high dollar ones because that was all that was left in my size. I got the last two packs.

Just checked the old sugars ooopps, I forgot to eat today. Level at 45, for those who know the levels. Mine usually run 110 to 150. Had two sugar gummies.
Waiting on son to bring me some pizza here in a bit.
I actually feel really good and awake for letting it get that low.
Found my Heritage Arms Revolver in the trunk hidey hole when cleaning it out Pluss 1000 rounds of .22. know at least one thing I will be doing tomorrow.
Right now sitting with the dog looking for a good movie.

 At 45 I'm just short of a puddle on the floor. Two sugar gummies wouldn't do much to help.
