At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Took the current booster jab. Guess it's like the flue now.
So the 1st booster after the initial vax, and each one there after, only gives you an extra bit of protection, just for the currant variant.
Any how, just had to take the second booster and not the first one, to be considered vaxed.

So in 3 days I will be considered fully vaxed and allowed to leave my room, without getting COVID Quarentined again. Either that, or dead from a reaction. Either way I am getting out of this "jail cell".
Stay strong man! Kind thoughts and prayers...still!!!

Got a little done 'sides the roofing. I FINALLY made contact with an engineering firm that is interested in taking on our Fire Alarm spec sheet/design! That only took like 3 months and 7 or 8 different companies! Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel...and it isn't an oncoming train!

Also managed to make contact with the outfit I mentioned having the T bonds. Turns out that it's a requirement that the bank we use has to have collateral for the amount we have in their bank above and beyond the $250K the FDIC insures. Makes sense, but I was a little disappointed that we don't earn interest or anything. Dang it.

Olivia Newton-John has died. I had a monstrous crush on her back in the day, pre-Grease. Breast cancer. RIP Olivia! And Cindy tells me Roger Mosley, "TC" on "Magnum PI" (the original, good one!), has also died. Time catches up with us all I suppose.

I am saddened to read of Olivia Newton-John's passing.

I'm not sure that I can relate to most celebrity types. They live in a very different world than us mere mortals. Well, they have that illusion in many cases. I prefer the real world.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
Drought? Was reading, yesterday, California, taken as a whole, is in a 20-year drought, notwithstanding a wet 2019. That's okay, though, as some droughts lasted 500-years, according to those who study such things.

Water woes are worsening, and comedy, not to be left behind, has become part of the scenario. According to the same read, in May, Emperor Gavin dictated the state use 15% less water, in June. The state used 19% more.
Ha, ha, ha. Stick that edict somewhere, Gavin.

It looks like I get to go salmon fishing for the first time in over a year of caring for my invalid wife.
A buddy called and invited to go fish the mouth or the Rogue River Friday.
The fall chinook are holing up in the mouth because the river temp is too warm for them to continue upstream.
The Grand daughter is staying with my wife.
I am pretty stoked.

If Mama Cass had shared that sandwich - I thought she choked on it.
Karen Carpenter yes, a very sad case indeed.
Ian, I've got a few weeds I can send you. So hot here I saw a squirrel climb down the fence and scamper down the drive with what looked like a big chunk of foam insulation in it's mouth this afternoon. Not kidding!

We've had 1-5/8" of rain for the entire year here. Even the weeds died off months ago.
We were dry.
Saturday morning we got 3.25" in a couple hours...I think that 3.0" inches of that, fell in 20 minutes and the remaining .25" fell in the other hour and a half. Sunday Morning, we got another 0.9" (in just over an hour.) This probably turned around our drought. More rain predicted for next weekend.

Now, Glencoe's flat farmland will typically puddle water after a 1" rain...it takes a day or two to soak in. I went out to the sportsman club to cut up a tree this morning. No puddles anywhere, the soil soaked up that 4.1" of water in less than 48 hours...Yep the soil sure was dry. Even in the middle of our Club's woods (a swampy hole), where I dragged all the tree brush to, that area is the lowest in any direction for a 1/2 mile. No standing water in that swampy hole.

after all this time i got the Tayberries actually putting on berries.
i don't know if all the poking and scratching and trying to find the thorns to pick them out of your fingers you have to go through to get them is worth it though.

the drunken monkeys went to Pokie for some doctors visits and i opted to stay home.
got a bunch of cherries picked after the berries. and got everything cleaned up so i decided to get the new 4 wheeler out to see how hard it was gonna be to start after sitting in it's shed all winter.
surprise of the year,,, it turned over twice and fired right up, probably have to use it to drag the old one out and end up buying a new battery for it though.

then the SIL come over to ask if i had any carrots so we could give bottling them a trial run.
i picked and poked through the first patch for a bit and come up with about 3 dozen, so over i went to pit cherries to make bottled pie filling, and have some lunch.

now if i can just keep the birds out of everything, i can finish off the first cherry tree get the second one harvested, and maybe get a couple of buckets of apples in a few more weeks.

Oh the darned wood splitter project. I use an old enameled refrigerator drawer to cover up the Honda motor. Pulled the cover and there was a Garter snake. Before I could grab it it slithered into the engine. I got a flash light, necessitating a trip up the hill to the house. Can't find the snake! Took off the rewind, there the little bassturd is. Oops, slithered back out of sight. Grrrrrr! Took off the shroud, there he is, no no no, not into the back of the fly wheel. Okay, pull the motor off the splitter and shake it until a loop of snake dangles down. Got it, pulled it out and threw it in the pasture.

Re-install the motor, put the shroud on and the rewind, start the motor. Wait, what? Running way too fast, where's my idle. Pull the shroud back off. I had trapped a throttle return spring. Corrected that and the motor ran right. Drained the hydro oil, pumped out the lines, replaced the filter, refilled hydo oil. There, now it runs right. Now the tires. Pulled the wheels off, well I woulda if one wasn't rusted onto the hub. BFH and a few whacks got that off.

Now yesterday the low tire pressure light came on for my truck. The truck with the almost brand new tires! Yup, a construction screw dead center in the tread. Aaaarrrggghhh! Okay, fine, went to town got two used 13" tires for the splitter and took the wheel and tire off the truck to get plugged. Man, if these 285/20 wheels and tires get any heavier, I won't be able to wrassle them into a vehicle. Okay, tire plugged, splitter tires installed, go to load the big truck wheel/tire into Sue's Escape and the rim flipped up and the edge of the rim hit my arm bone just below my right elbow. Criminy, that hurt. Oh poop, my arm went into pain from the wrist to the shoulder.

Back home, wheel back on truck, wheels back on splitter. Still have some work on the splitter tomorrow, as I have a small piece that attaches to the lever to fabricate. Screw it, we are going for a bike ride. 61 miles later, Supper time. Supper over, bourbon time.Tomorrow's another day.
