I'm celebrating the Chinese new year by sitting in a chair in my driveway making one of the components of an item of entertainment and war invented by the Chinese over a thousand years ago.
What kind of charcoal are you using?

Got off work at 5am. Laid down till 8am
Got up and been running ever since.
Got the storage finaly emptied out and cleaned up. Inspected and turned in key. Got my $50 deposit back.
Found press parts and two garbage bags of 20 guage shells, in storage. I took those home .
So one major deal finaly finished.
Took the $50 to the local gun shop and spent twice that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Got my shot press together. Tinkered with it made a list of what it needs. Cleaned it and oiled it up .
Found a couple things in my storage, that may work with it
Was missing the drop tube. But I wanted to run #4 shot thru it any way, and it would have been an issue with the stock drop tube. Ordered an improved Drop tube for it so #4shot will drop ok thru it.
Cleaning and doing som modification on some other parts I had found in storage.
To get the press where I want it.
Took a range trip with my Boy, Shot over 100 rounds between all the test loads I had made up and the rounds I took to have fun with after testing. Of course I did only bring back 75 brass out
of the hundred we shot.
Stripped up the flooring in the living room, the sub floor is getting week I places. We just got got back from buying a couple area rugs to put down ill I get the sub floor ripped up and fixed.
Just cracked open a pint of Beer and made myself a roast chicken delli sandwich. I think I might be done for the day.
Mitty, when I load my Hi-Per steel shot loads I found I could not drop #'s 3, 2, and 1 steel shot down the 12 ga. tube. I also used to have trouble with lead 4's in the 20 gauge. My solution is to take a used primer tray, one of the otherwise most useless pieces of detritus in the reloading room, and use it to dip shot from a wide mouth container and dump into the shot shell I already have prepped with a small funnel in it. I weigh a correct charge of shot, count the individual pellet, and then use one empty CCI primer tray for a full 100 pellets and a second tray with all but 32 holes covered with duct tape. The procedure really goes quite smoothly. I prep a tray of 50 shot shells to point where they are ready for shot, fill them all, and move on to crimping. No jamming of the charge bar trying to work it back and forth with coarse shot either this way.

Last night, I got invited to a family fish fry that is happening this afternoon, my Nephew is quite the fisherman.
Also, part of today's trip is to checkout and fix my Mom's electric lift recliner (at my Uncle's house.)
Road trip starts in about 30 minutes ;)

Mitty- that's the problem with those bottom feeding guns, they throw brass everywhere!
Was not so much throwing brass wild, except with a few test loads I did. But the 2 feet tall grass we were shooting in. Well, I will find them... next spring when I get down there to mow.

Thanks for the advice. If this New style tube kit works, then OK. But if #4's jam I will definitely be doing it you way.
Outside of 50# of 7, I only have #4 shot. As of yesterday's count 225# of it. So the advice is greatly appreciated.
Looks like everything looking down that barrel except lucky X will be getting a dose of 4 lead for quite sometime.
That press was in really good shape once I got her cleaned up.

That is a first gen Jr. Once cleaned up and oiled she works real smooth.
Amazing how well those old presses hold up. Found out besides the Teflon tube I ordered. I was able to get the rest of the parts from MEC or Ballistic products. Including a standard tube if I decide the other is a gimic.
Amazing at the availability, interchangeability, and options available in parts for the old girl.
I should be able to have her working full tilt for about 40 bucks and and very little work. Screwing it down to the bench today.

Last night I gave up on my third attempt to join the CBA, and asked for my money back. It puzzles me why an organization that claims they are trying to boost membership does this to people trying to join.

But now I'm out of excuses, and have to go shovel snow. Only about 25 cubic yards to go! :headbang:

Had the same experience with the CBA several years ago also. First time the check never cleared the bank, never came back to me, never heard from them. Second time a few years later the check did clear the bank and I have yet to hear from them.

Yep. This time I paid online, so one way or another I'll get a refund--but after almost 3 months my patience is gone.

Got in one more casting session before the snow flies. Again another great batch of my 30 caliber NOE 165 grain Ranch dogs! So I will have a bit of sizing, PC coating and weighing ahead of me but this looks like it is going to be a stormy week here. 3 storms predicted; the first starting today soon!
Karen is cooking today so I did the laundry while I was casting. One of my outdoor kitties serenaded me while I was casting!
It was "Kitty Fauci"!
Since January was warm I guess he realized what a male cat has to do to try for dominance. He had quite a repertoire of little songs!

Back upstairs there was a wonderful smell of homemade chili in the air! I snuck a few sample spoonfuls already.....
It is her scratch recipe....I guess I can call it bare bones Chili...... Lots of browned ground beef, not too much beans but they are black beans and kidney beans, tomato puree, and her choice of spices. All I know it comes out great everytime and No matter how fancy I do mine from scratch she just gets the best pure chili flavor!
Sometimes you got to have someone else do the cooking I guess! All I know is I'm in for a great meal and a few days of left overs which get better everyday!

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I tried guys, I really did try! The energy just isn't there. Did chores, got some hay out to the stock and other than that all I did is load numbers into the new phone and watch You Tube.

I'm really getting tired of this. Sorry for whining, but thems the facts.

Sunday, schmunday! I'm BORED SILLY!!! Coughing and hacking are probably great hobbies if you smoke 3 packs a day, but for those that don't it's right up there with collecting toe nail clippings. ;) Winter is kinda my down time, but I didn't think it was going to be THIS down!!!

Hey, wait a minute! Aren't you the guy that can't hear or see half the time that's trying to figure if there's a watermelon growing in yer noggin that is re-inventing the Chinese mini-lathe AND working on being an actual rocket scientist AND raising a family? And YOU are going to lecture me on "taking it easy?!!!!!!!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yep Sunday any way.
Feed, water the animals. Take it easy watch the tube Maybe read a bit of the good book. Charge yourself back up for the week ahead.
Sound like you need to make a fine mess of chilli. The process always makes me happy and you inadvertantly end up cleaning out the cupboards. So that counts as productive.

Taking it easy myself today. Laying on the floor with the dog watching Ice road truckers. Might fiddle around on the loading bench a bit, later.
Maybe make some chilli.

Bret,
Keep positive! Once we get older it takes longer to get back in high gear! I go thru it all the time and it is worse in winter especially where you and I live! Take a look at CW, he is near to us too on the coast! Geez, I have no Idea where he gets his energy from but he has it!
Granted he is not taking care of a farm like you, well neither am I ....but he sure has a positive attitude after what he has been through and taking care of his wife, and all.
I think he could teach us a good lesson on surviving a NE Winter!

yep LED's kick butt.
i just picked up 3-3'ers at the wall mart for 9 bucks each last friday.
had Littlegirl sweep through the store on sunday looking to get me 3 more and they were all gone.
not the end of the world, but they were marked 30 bucks each to begin with.
45 watts and 4500 lumens what's not to like?

i'll move the fluorescent lights they replaced down to the dark corner of the basement where there's nothing at now.
matter of fact i spent part of yesterday unwiring them so i can spread them out where i want them then i'll hard wire them in.

did a little casting today.
swung open the plate then twisted it a bit more and burned the side of my finger just enough to startle me and drop the mold in the little bucket i use to water drop into.
quite the bubbling going on.
i grabbed it out, gave it a couple of shakes, and put it up on the pot to dry and stay warm so i could slowly cool it down.
it looks fine, no light or anything, i'll give it a go next time i cast and see what's up.

Every light I have is LED now. But one ony loading bench. Have a " Natural Light" LED above my kitchen table. Makes it real nice for small part tinkering. Or just sitting doing bills.
Thinking about getting one of those strip lights tearing it apart, and wiring up all my presses and my stand.

I seam to remember some one. A long time ago. Telling me to get a pair of comfortable gloves, for when I cast?
Meh. Maybe I was just dreaming?
