Bill's probably taking a deep nap right about now.
I ain't gonna be the one that tells him they pound the spikes down in the bones they chop off, with a big hammer.
sometimes the DR. misses and pounds his thumb or more likely your leg with that 4 or 6 lb hammer, and
that's why you feel like he hit you with a hammer when you wake up.

Prior to my wife's knee replacement, she watched a number of such videos and was still willing to go through with the procedure. Me, I'd rather not know the brutal details -- just do the job and get me mobile again. Problem with that is, I already know the guy will be using a sledge hammer and having to stop and catch his breath every so often, because he's swinging so fast and furiously.

I once saw a story about pneumatic nailer injuries. The ER Md said the only difference between His Vise-grips and yours is that his are stearile.

Best wishes on the surgery Bill.
My Dad had both of his done at the same time. Gained 1.5 inches in height once they got his legs straightened. Stepmother was an LPN and in a senior ward most of her working career. Got down right ornery with dad about his therapy, but it worked.

Same is true for the surgeon's DeWalt cordless drill.

They don't hammer them, on any more. The modern way is like CAD. I had MRI's done prior, to the procedure. Use to be the surgeon would take a replacement off the shelf......closest fit. Mine are Smith & Nephew (not Smith and Wesson), custom made in England.

Walked a few steps to chair. Sitting up, had a nice, normal lunch, zero pian....but that will change when the spinal block wears off. Op

All is good.
Did first PT, goes to zero, and 90 deg is easy, with a spinal block. :D
Thank you all for the support.

Great news.
Got the shower water valve replaced (real bugger to get the old one out - Moen - shame on you), got the hot water valve on the sink fixed.
Don't know what it is with her, told her water would be off today, so she says she's got to get her 1 hr walk and a shower in first. So I get to start at 10:30. She goes to the store - favorite passtime. She does ask if she can help and my response is always 'sure - go to the store'. Well, done anyway, daughter will be happy with hot water when she visits.

Bill,
glad to hear it went well.

Time machine is right.
Had a Upper endoscopy, they did some chopping and burning. Removed unwanted stuff.
Woke up talking to the nurse, but Didn't know what we were talking about. Very trippy.

I just walked around the hall loop, and it was GREAT! Of course, still have some traces of the spinal and they put pain meds inside when closing, but zero pain, and was walking just good. Tickled to death at this point.
I fully expect it to be worse tomorrow with swelling and will have to work my way back, but now I am thrilled, far better than I dared imagine. :D:D

Bill i am so glad the surgery went well.
My day went smoothly until after supper. I was trying some more loads in my Savage 325 30/30.
Backtrack about 6 months ago. I had a Gunsmith install a Weaver rail on the front section of the action. I have been shooting it occasionally since getting the gun back. Tonight will be the last time i ever shoot that gun. About the 30th round tonight. The gun literally exploded on me. Tomorrow I will get pictures of what is left. There are only about 4 pieces that can be salvaged.
As for me i wasn't hurt bad enough to need to go to emergency. But i was cut in 3 places. At the left eye brow. Right cheek (was the worst, but miner). On the lower neck just above the shoulder. Everything quit bleeding in 5 minutes.
My wife says i have my personal angel. That keeps me from being killed. An this is just another example.
This is another example of my bad luck. If something can go wrong i will do it.
