Pre-op is the worst. My first knee was done @ 7 PM. I had to report to pre-op that morning. Normally, the doc has two operating rooms......use one while the other is being prepped. This day he could only get one. Then he does, hips first, shoulders second then knees. Depending, on if your having a L or R done, determines who's next. :headbang:

Didn't get back to my hospital room till @ 10 PM. Talking about a long day................for me the wife and the surgeon.

Second one, four months later, the wait was much more tolerable.

Doc should be here in a minute. I am first on the batting order.

Supposed to be home tomorrow midday, in the room maybe noon.
Or earlier.

I agree, pre-op is the worst. First surgery I had I had to be there at 5 AM. At 10 AM I wasn't yet even in pre-op, was still sitting in the waiting room. Last surgery I needed to check in at 10 AM, at 5 PM while still sitting in the waiting room they cancelled and re-scheduled for the next morning. :(

Both of John's knees were pretty bad. After he had the second one done I was surprised how much taller he was. o_O

Did they provide you with the Iron Maiden? A mechanical knee bending machine that they loan you for 30 days. You lay in bed and strap your knee into it. Everyday, you gradually increase the angle of the bend up to where it bottoms out at 130-135 degrees. Four hours a day for the next 30 days. Effective but boring.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Hope all goes well Bill, I know some folks that have been so much better after recuperating they wish they hadn't put it off.

Better than a sharp stick in the eye. However, they ain't OEM. Still affected by weather changes...........cold temps and or high humidity Wintertime they act up, somewhat, frequently.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Best of luck on the knee Bill!

Had to take both kids to town for their learners permits yesterday. We're fortunate to have a DMV Office right in town so I don't have to make a 40 or 60 mile trip like I used to. Of course they need ID, found their birth certificates right off the bat. Took another hour to find their social security cards (a horrible form of ID that is not supposed to be used for ID according to law!) Finally found them in the gun safe under the deeds for the farm! Daughter passed hers first time, son took 2 tries. Oh boy! That took the better part of 3 hours. Both drove last evening. Nothing like starting out in an F350 Crew Cab with a (I'm told) 2" lift kit. 15-20 mph was all my daughter wanted, although she was absolutely certain she'd be driving "fast, like Mom" right off the bat! Dads nerves were a bit frazzled too I might add. Started taking down the old pool, what a mess! We got 17 years out of it, so I guess that's not bad. One horse busted up the corral, but other than that not much got done.

Rain today. Headed to one of our "big cities" for a dr's appt and to have oldest girls birthday supper. Then back home to vote in Primary. 4 people running for 2 positions on Town Board, including me, and 2 of them are doing it to block another from getting the seat, not me! I'd like to keep my seat and finish the work we've started, but if I don't get it I'll live. Lotta headaches go with the job.
