they didn't have a single piece of trex in the place.
I was thinking about bending some around the bed-bed in a heart shape and raising it up about a foot this spring then working in some bush cherries, maybe some box wood, and surrounding it with some different flowers.
now? I might spring for a couple of 2x6's and square those off just to make a double stacked bed... or not,,, it can wait, unless I find some rail-road ties along the tracks somewhere....LOL

Horse tallow would be one thing I never tried in a bullet lube recipe.
As per usual there is a back story. But I'll skip all of the maudlin parts and jump right to the lube. This is a black powder lube my friend developed using horse tallow as an ingredient much like mutton tallow in SPG. He calls it.....wait for it....Pegasus Lube.

Regarding wood prices. 2x4 is down here from high of over $7 to over $5 now. Got VERY lucky on the house build and contracted right before the prices soared. During the build, the house base price jumped twice on our model. Day I closed, I already had $23K in "instant" equity. Just nuts. The plywood prices are just over double what they were a year ago. I almost left w/o a piece, but had to have it for the lead sled (and intended to build a whole wood box, til the DOH! moment when I realized I already had 3 ammo boxes sitting on the floor! Now Ihave a lot of expensive plywood leaning on the wall!)

Trying to explain to my wife that the .06 Of a percent of the lease on our oil rights for 40 acres somewhere in West Virginia needs to be signed over to the land owner. That receiving the signing bonus will cost me more money then I would ever make from it.
Her mother was so greedy she put herself into the pour house over this kind of stuff.
May she rot in hell, I am pretty sure that is where she is at, for teaching her daughter this grab every Penny no matter what that it costs or who it hurts philosophy.

I have a buddy that I work with. He always makes sure to eat some horse when he is in Japan. He likes it. But what he likes even more is coming back home and telling equestrians how good it tastes. He’s a little broken that way.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
The other week there was talk, here, of people being honest when showing their targets.

This morning's range session:
1895 Chilean Mauser (Loewe marked)
Factory iron sights (my vision's limit with them)
10 shots 50-yards
Lyman 287641 sized .287" (thank you, Buckshot!)
13.0-grains of Unique

Now, I could leave it at that, but I'm honest.
Here are the other two shots.

Cast for the first time in over six months. Fired up the RCBS Pro Melt and cast a few hundred RCBS 45-270-SAA Bullets. Powder coated and sized to .451”
These will be for my newish Ruger Bisley Blackhawk.
I’m thinking 8-10gr of Unique for a nice mild load that still hits hard with a 280gr bullet. View attachment 19285

Just last night I loaded some of these up under my "pet" 7.3g Unique.
Mine is a HP mold.

Horse Tallow! Never saw a fat horse ......Wonder what it tastes like!
I didn't try the tallow but since there was a perfectly good horse laying there, that they didn't want to just drag to the wolf pile, and having a lot of dogs to feed, they canned it. Of course guys being guys, we had to try it. The dogs did get some, but man I don't know why we are squeamish about eating horse in the U.S. It was 27 years old and was just fine as canned meat. Of course I have been called a food slut, so some would say my opinion does not constitute a ringing gourmet endorsement.

So we are snacking on canned horse at one of my shoots. We explained that the poor horses name was Snickers. Snickers got frightened during a thunder storm and bolted. Slipped on a clay side hill and suffered a split/fractured pelvis.

As I say, we were having some Snickers along with other victuals and one of the guys says, "That there is some mighty fine stallion." Ah, says one of the unsuspecting hombres present. "Snickers was a mare." First guy, takes another bite, smacks his lips and rolls his eyes and says, "Nope stallion." Well heck and tarnation we are about to bring the owner of the unfortunate Snickers into the fray when the first guys says, "Yup, gotta be a stallion, Snickers got nuts." Don't remember much about the shoot, who was all there, who won, who shot poorly or anything else, but Snickers got nuts!

if your wandering around France and see a horses head out in front of a shop they are advertising the fact that they sell horse meat.

anyway there is a little sausage shop in Dickinson north Dakota that sells horse sausage.
I bought a bit to try and my buddy who was a horse trainer in a former life wouldn't let me in the truck with it.
since we were on our way to the job site at the time I didn't have enough time to taste it but I surely wasn't gonna waste it, so I pretty much gobbled it down, and couldn't even tell you what it tasted like.

Sorry for the earlier post, just had to blow off steam somewhere and the wife has not been taking steam blowing well lately.
Besides arguing with the wife....
Kid had a snow day so we organized the "camping - survival" cooking and eating supplies, the put the stuff all in one bin, along with the butchering supplies. So we can find stuff later, then put all our hunting clothes in another tote. So all that stuff labeled and organized.
Kid had pulled out the remaining lead I had forgot about from up under the house. So I melted down a little in the mud room and made 20 lb of ingot.
Still got a hundred or so lbs I forgot to ingot, just going to finish that in the fondue pot on a hot plate in the mud room 5 and 10 lb at a time.
