California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
The Air Force Thunderbirds are in town. Yesterday we were treated to the wonderful noise as they take off and head to the air show in the big city 20-miles away. The coolest part, though, is our deck is almost directly inline with their landing pattern. Noise, smoke, noise, smoke, noise, smoke, etc. as all six pass overhead. If they were any lower it'd be possible to read the writing on the access panels. Today and tomorrow should be even noisier!
Even Duke gets excited, and no doubt the pilots can hear his greetings.

Working on the flightline, the arm, and de-arm ends of the runway with J-57 and J-79 engines running left me with moderate to severe hearing loss. But what a way for it to go!
The irony is, now I can turn up my hearing aids and really enjoy the noise.

Friend of mine gave me a couple of small boxes of "lead" from a neighbors garage. Sinkers, weights, odds and ends of unknowns. Melted it all slow and skimmed off the "floaters". No clue what it is, but I have about 25 pounds of free "lead". Poured nicely into ingots so will hardness test in a week to get an idea what it might be.

Much to my wife's dismay, I may have educated both of my children in the fine art of "colorful" expression while driving with them in the car.
My daughter was right in the middle of her 'beginning parroting' lessons, repeating new words and phrases with abandon, when my wife was cut off by some jackhole - one of the funniest things I've ever heard, repeated in the innocent, excited manner a two-year-old uses, "Douchebag!" comes piping up from the back seat, followed by laughter.

Did what I could to save the situation with 'No, kiddo, ditch bug, there's a bug in the ditch over there, look' and I think maybe that's the last time that worked. Kid picks up words quick.

I haven't either. They will only accept my money when I buy a new, complete tool or set.

so i hear this guy singing this real umm catchy tune in some middle eastern language.
finally have to ask him what he is singing and he translates it into broken English for me.
twinkle, twinkle little star...in the sky so bright,, like a diamond in the sky.
he was singing it in broken whatever he spoke too, and didn't know all the words,
i guess he learned it from a 3 year old somewhere.

My daughter is six, and I don't know how many times I have heard Twinkle Twinkle since 2015, but she learned the notes/melody on the piano this year.

Not so much the pace, tempo, or basic rhythm structure. It's chaos.

Maybe the two of them have crossed paths.

My four-year-old daughter sings it almost constantly, alternating with the alphabet song. Fortunately, pitch perfect and almost lyrically correct, but still......maddening to Daddy who can't get it to stop playing on repeat in his head when cleaning the garage or pruning trees.
