heck Jon.
let him know he's doing it wrong.
you recycle food waste.
use the methane to generate heat and lights, then use the broke down waste from that to fertilize more food.

the chinese have a couple of plants like that up and running now,,, and they give the fertilizer away for free.

Big benefit down here is the local fruit (as all places) is harvested near ripe. This year was a wet one so very juicy and tasty pineapple flavor.

I don't remember him, but apparently Dad was acquainted with Sammy Davis Jr. and thought highly of him. Mom and a guy friend double dated with Frank and Nancy Sinatra in about 1940.

Bruce Springsteen thru me beer once.
After party, when I worked for Balkin productions. Early 1990 or late 1980 something. Cleveland Ohio.
Thought he was a roady. They had a tub of Michelob there. He was standing by it.
I Said, "hey you, can you toss me a beer". He said "catch". Then thru it to me.
Buddy of mine said to me" I can't believe you had the ....., To ask"The Boss", to toss you a beer!".
Still not connecting the nickname with Springsteen. My reply was, "Well how else did you expect me to get a beer, thru that crowd."
One of my brushes with stardom.

brushes with greatness.
i made Hank Williams Jr. show me his drivers license once,, to be fair he was driving a Dodge Mirada rental car.

i also [unintentionally] double charged Kenny Rogers for an ice cream sundae at the NBA all star game, no clue it was him till one of the ladies working there swooned and gushed all about who it was.... whatever.

there's been a few others, but they were people most here wouldn't know.
Like that time i punched Audien in the nose for sweating Littlegirl at one of his concerts. [he was an opening act anyway]

When I lived in Canton, working part time for AAA. Dan Marino locked his keys, in his rental car. At the Hilton. During Foot Ball Hall Of Fame festival week.

I unlocked it. He was one of those fellows that breath down your shoulder while you are trying to work.
He gave my 10 drink vouchers as a tip for the Hilton Bar. Said he had quit drinking for a bit. May as well have them. I thought it was him all along, but kept it professional. Then when he signed the receipt. I said "Thank you and have a nice day Mr. Marino."
There has been a few others but those were the only two that I respected that I got close too.

I've met more of them than I could ever keep track of, hundreds. Was a few of them that were actually decent people.

High O’Brian walked on my house boat in Valdez which doubled as a home and office. Karyn, the boys and I lived there in the summer. Kinda nice as my charter vessel was the next slip over.
Anyway Hugh O’Brian stepped in one morning wanting to go fishing. Had to explain that we were booked months in advance and had no room.

Last I heard he was in a federal prison, but I was acquainted with the president of the local Hells Angels chapter. Don't know what their initiation rituals are or what it takes to become a chapter president, but he was a decent guy. Wouldn't want to tangle with him, though.

My wife and I were in the vet's and sitting across from an old bag lady. My wife and her exchanged pleasantries about the lady's cat, that she was holding. Later, my wife asked if I recognized the lady. Nope. It was Doris Day. Reckon she was dressed down so as to not be recognized. Fooled me, anyway. She had a local reputation as being a very nice and down-to-Earth lady.

When I was working at the fire station at the Yakima airport, Willie Nelson would fly in to visit with his mother who lived in town. This was in the 1980's when Willie secretly quit drinking and smoking dope. His private jet would have trays of snacks and food that he wouldn't eat. We would sit in the fire station for about half an hour until the limo came to get him. He sent the food in for us and visited. Didn't talk about his business but about Texas (one of the FF there was born and raised there) and growing up poor. He was almost as poor as I was!

In the late 1970's we got off day shift and stopped at Denny's for coffee on the way home. It was packed. The only seating unused was one half of a double booth so, one of the guys asked the folks sitting in the unused half if we could sit there. Got the OK and waved the rest of us over. The other folks turned out to be Dolly Parton and her back-up group. Real nice folks!

Bought Joann Nodki a Pepsi one real hot afternoon.

My flight instructor owned 1 of 27 airworthy J4 Cubs of which I logged 4.5 hrs in the left seat . He occasionally told a story about a flight instructor in the desert outside of Las Vegas with such color and detail it was as if he had been party to the events . 6-7 times I heard the story and the details and emotion never changed. He denied that it was himself but to this day I believe he was the pilot that took Bugsy Seagal to Long Beach when he was killed . Probably one of last 15 people to talk to him in any case .

I met Greg Boyington and Mike Kawato just a couple of fighter pilots Mike shot Greg down when he went to the POW camp on mainland Japan .

Talked with Bob Hoover about 20 minutes one afternoon. See F 86 , Tennessee Walk .

Had dinner with Dawn Wells ....... unfortunately the 12 yr old me wasn't making it he connection until way after the fact .

RRA David Griggs had dinner at the house several times .
Signed off my Dad's log book for a check ride in a North American AT-6 as a trade for the check ride and sign off for a check ride in a Cessna 182 . A Space Shuttle Astronaut best known for the butterfly net satellite recovery deal .

When I was very young like 1968-71 we lived down the street from Craig Breedlove in Inyokern CA on Cactus Ave off Brown road just 1.5 miles from the US 395 .......maybe it's the CA 14 overpass . Never could remember which one went to Palm-Caster and San Bernardino......

Should you have ever watched the Reno local news as a casual passing I knew most of the anchors Ed Pierce , channel 4 , his father Les was the guy with the Bugsy story and all of that crew and channel 8 circa 1982-2010 were at Les's funeral .

My mentor/IA and ultimately the guy that signed off for me to get my A&P Mechanic license was a lowly crew chief on a Douglas DC4 . Air force 1 wasn't a thing for a few more years but he was the guy that signed the logs after Columbine the Super Constellation was replaced .

I spent quit a lot of time with a preferred pilot of Wild Willie and Hilly during their Governorship of Arkansas. Just an ag pilot that bought a couple of DC3s to fly seasonal over run for FedEx that took an off season 3 month flight on call contract .

I guess as far as really well known to everyone Dawn Wells is probably about as famous/well known as it gets . Most of the others had amazing, mind boggling, cringe worthy , stories to tell about being right there .
