I have a cat (named Dreamy), I think she wants me to teach her to reload? Today she brought down a loaded 243 cartridge.
.
Now a couple years ago, I trained my other cat (Sassy)to fetch, which she had instinct to do so, but Dreamy never cared about that game. I play fetch with Sassy all the time and Dreamy just watches.
.
Last year, I started finding 45acp cases on the floor where I keep my shoes...and a few cases were in one shoe.
.
It took a while, but I figured when I leave the reloading room door open, Dreamy goes in there and finds a piece of brass and brings it downstairs and tries to put it in my shoe. I had some 45 cases in a bowl by the turret press. When after I figured that, I put them in a baggy. There was other brass here and there in the room, but I figured Dreamy thought the game was that bowl by the turret press.
A few days later, more 45 cases in my shoe. I go upstairs and find the baggy on the floor, baggy open, cases scattered on the floor. I clean up the mess and secure the 45 cases with my stash in a 5 gallon bucket. a few days later a couple more 45 cases. I figure they were loosies on the floor, that I missed while cleaning up.
.
Next was a 222 case. then a 223 case. then more 223 cases.
I found were she was finding them, and I secured them.
.
Next was a sized/lubed 45 cast bullet. then another, then another.
I found where she found those and secured them.
.
Next was a unlubed, unsized, 358 Ranchdog 190gr cast bullet.
then another, then another...and so on.
I couldn't figure where Dreamy was getting them?
I think Dreamy brought down a dozen of them over the following week, so I set up a 'stakeout' and found she was pulling them out of a soup can (in another room) that was half full of rejects with a layer of ranchdog's on the top.
.
Then came another 45 case, followed by a 41mag case, then a couple more 41 mag cases.
these cases all had flaws.
She must have dug them out of a box where I put culled brass for recycling. I secured the box.
.
Then came more cast bullets, all sized/lubed, a few 41 cal, a few 357 cal, a few 45.
These were all on a shelf, stood up on cards. I secured all them.
.
That was a few weeks ago, and nothing has been delivered into my shoe since ...until today.
.
I had a friend over and we were having a conversation in the living room, when Dreamy walks by carrying a loaded 243 cartridge. I go upstairs and look where I have 243 loaded ammo, all are in MTM plastic ammo boxes, there is 5 of these MTM boxes on that shelf. I believe they were all snapped shut prior to today. One box is open and it had 49 loaded rounds, all with cast bullet nose up.
.
I'd like to keep the upstairs door shut, but I need my woodstove heat to find it's way up there.
