got my mutt 358311 mold going was a ebay buy BUT did not pay attention to the pictures. Had NO sprue plate and a stripped out hinge hole so Lyman parts and local hardware store fixed it up. Looks terrible but casts perfectly @ 160 gr and .358.
do not know how to post pictures.

Got this mould gifted to me.
Ben sitting, looking at it a while. So fired up the Lee pot.
Cast about 175 good ones. Small casting session for me.
Then the wave washer crapped out. Started getting flash on the bases. Tightening it up did not help.Well, pot was almost empty so calling that a session.
Figure I'll give the mould a good work over and a new wave washer.
So now just figure out if I want to Pan Lube, or powder coat? And should I size them for 38 spcl or 9mm ? They are measuring at a fat .358 without the powder coat.

First bullet casting of the season today. Started with a 300 grain Mountain Mold for the 40/50 Sharps Straight in 30/1, as I was out and made about 200 to last me the next year. Then the RCBS 25-85 Cowboy Match for the 25/20 in the same alloy. Then some H&G #119 .30 caliber for the 30/30. Pot had about 3 pounds of the early alloy and added about 15 pounds of WW's +2% tin.

I had forgotten how well the old H&G San Diego moulds were to operate since I hadn't used it for years. If they shoot as good in my new 30/30 as the old Savage model 99, I will be casting more.

Well I just did a little casting with my new 5 cavity NOE 315-102. Casts with my alloy of about 30-1 about.3155 at 105 grains. Bullets just fall out of the mold. Scrub with hot water and Dawn, then sprayed down with starting fluid, heat cycled 3 times works like a charm.

Sized to .3125

Cast about 150.
Also cast the NOE 358-135 HP. Can not get that one to produce clean bullets. Couple more tries ought to do it, I hope. I like that 135. I had a NOE 2 cavity that cast beautifully. But I wanted more production. Should have kept the 2 cavity.
Anyway I like the looks of the little 105 for the 32 S&W long

Lee C358 158 SWC, cast last week.
This morning, I started running these through the Star lubsizer with SL68B and Alum GC.
The die was set to only lube one groove, I think that'll be OK?
My plan is for a hot load of H110 for my Dan Wesson Mod 14
...Maybe I roll them in BLL also?

Sixty two pencil sinkers with a brass barrel swivel in one end. 15 to 40 grams in weight. Shows you where I had to go to find a mould. Six cavity 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 grams. Very useful weights and relatively snag resistant.
Used my new to me vintage SAECO 10# bottom pour pot and some of the ingots that came with it.

Even though my casting gear is close to my reloading bench, I haven't been motivated to use it, i.e., until the other day. I cast a small lot of CBE "fat" Loverins for my Arg. Mauser and some .595" pure lead RB's for my muzzle loading trade gun. Btw, the Loverins have been loaded without a GC over 8.7gr. of Unique to see whether it's a viable load for the Arg. Mau.: with GC's, they're quite accurate.

First use of two molds today. A new 429421 and a used 311407. Cleaned both with Dawn and water using a toothbrush. Preheated on a hot plate. Ladled Rotometal 20-1 at 700F. The 429421 has a 3-17 date on it. Bullets are .429 dia. and 246 grains, very consistent and dropped out for the most part. The 311407 is an Ebay purchase and was in very good shape. Those are .312-.313 dia. with no reduced diameter section. The nose ran .298-.299 dia. Weight is 183 grains. Dropped out with a little shake. Now to see how they shoot!

I got a bag of a thousand bait holding wires in the mail yesterday for my most recent jig mould and was back out in the casting shed. Yeah yeah, I know, not as cool as bullets, but one of my addictions is stronger than the other.

Oh and I bought a box full of lure making stuff from a bait shop owner that bought up the lure making stuff from some cool old guy's estate. I grabbed all of the fluid bed powder painting stuff I could see in the junk box, several dyed buck tails, thread, flash-a-bou, and a fly tying vise I saw in there. I made the owner a cash offer and he said no, my offer was too much, he counter offered a lower price. I knew the vise was a lot nicer than the one I paid $9.95 for twenty years ago. When I got home I looked it up on the net to see what I could learn about setting it up and adjusting it. I about needed the defibrillator when I saw what they sell for. It is a HMH Standard made in Biddeford, ME.

See what I meant about The Cross Road in the Thread Drift forum? I paid fifty bucks for the whole box. I had no idea what that vise was worth, none.IMG_5658.jpg

Well, I got tied up with other projects and found the time to fire the pot off. Ran about 20-25 pounds of alloy through a new to me 358429 4 cavity Lyman, damn those things are heavy, and a 429303 just got it in last week. Been wanting one for a while and finally just bit the bullet (maybe a little pun intended) and bought one on eBay couple weeks back. I ran across a new SAECO 315 on the internet on clearance and had to have it. It finally settled in after 150-200 and stared dropping dang near perfect boolits. Sprue cuts were spot on and fill out was great. Ran another 150 or so. All in all a good afternoon casting. I was extremely happy with that 315. They are expensive, but man do they cast good.
