Heat index pushed 110 today - Funny. I was in Seattle when they had 110 F, not funny for them. Germany when it was cool, they apologized until they saw we had 105F streak for most of month. Hmm, normal Texas summer.
Hawk got 2", I got 1/10". Maybe more on the way. Tried watching the meteor shower this week, saw nothing.
Had to put the knee brace on for the soccer game last nite, walking has been painful for a few days. Old injuries show up at unusual times.

53 at dawn. Put 120 miles on the MC this evening. Temps ranged fro 86 on the ridges in the sun to 71 in the valleys in the shade. August in Wisconsin can be just splendid.

Tropical storm Fred has been taking it’s time going right over the top of us since 1:00 AM this morning. It should last until about 9:00PM tonight. High winds and heavy rains.
I live right on the water, a bayou that connects to the bay and then into the gulf. So there’s little chance of my place flooding. But I estimate a foot of rain in the last 18 hours, so the locations in the FL Panhandle near creeks and rivers ARE going to flood. Roads are likely to wash out in low lying areas.

But it is no longer 95 degrees.
(This was written late yesterday but it couldn’t be sent out til today because the internet was down.)

Hang tough Doc, one of the reasons Florida isn't always the paradise seen in the brochures. Monsoons and Hurricanes. Ugh!

Yeah, Hurricane Michael, a category 5, hit my home county in Oct. 2018. Devastating!
I think huge fires and mudslides happen in California more frequently than our NATURAL disasters.

I sure wish we had some of JonB's weather. It has been so dry and hot that we are already into the fall color change. Coming home from St Paul Sunday. In the last 30 miles i saw 4 trees that had completely turned to fall colors.

Temperatures dropped 30* in 24 hours. High today was 72 after a low of 58. Thanks Alaska!:) However, the smoke from the fire west of us, 15,000 acres, made air quality 200+ all day with a 20+ knot wind. Stayed inside all day and sized 308 brass with the mini-split heat pump filtering the air.

We're already seeing leaves shrivel and change color to red, orange, yellow, with some dropping and we've had very sufficient levels of precipitation.
Grew up and lived 64 years in an area of Kaliforniastan that had a cross between desert and Mediterranean climate. Average annual precipitation was 13 -14 inches. Love the four seasons here. If we don't get rain for 3 weeks I feel we're in a drought. Love the very distinct Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter seasons.

Supposed to cool down considerably tomorrow (8/18)--high of 84* followed by low of 58* overnight. That will be nice.

Tomorrow is our 20th anniversary. Steak dinner and all the trimmings.
