Whoo hoo! 5 above at dawn. Now we're talkin'.

At 1:00 pm I'm heading up to LaCrosse. My friend has targets starting at 2" at 50 yards going up to 10" at 300 yards at his rifle club. I'm taking a Model 700 .308 set up in a wooden police stock, shooting Lee 312-155-2R's with 17.0 grains of 4759, in F.C, brass averaging 1,550 fps.
I have notes from last Summer from 80, 160, 210, 350, and 440 yards so this should be fun.

Haven't heard from my Daughter I think they just shut down the house and went to the inlaws on the south side of San Antonio .

6 Granddaughters , 1 Grandson . My boys , unless the girls make husband's take their names or don't have any , are the end of the name line .

I have a balmy 30° outside my shack window , sunshine , and blue skies for the moment . ONLY down to 20° last night , it's a heat wave I tell ya .

25 and snowing a blizzard. All the slush from yesterday frize into solid sheet ice last night before the snow started.

Power is back on today but I'm not putting the plumbing back together until we're steady above freezing during the day.

still February.
clouds all day, no clouds at night, you do the math.
luckily we got some snow coming in later, I'm kinda tired at looking at yesterdays snow anyway.

I guess I should start the truck and the bronco it's been a couple of weeks for the truck,, and at least a week for the bronco, it doesn't like sitting that long so I might have to throw the spare battery in to fire it up.

Power is back on steady for the first time since 2 AM last Sunday.
I kept the pipes from freezing using propane stoves and small 12 volt fans powered by deep cycle batteries a friend gives me when he replaces them every three years in his fishing boat.
Weathers suppose to warm up this weekend.
Hell, we'll be wearing tee shirts, shorts and flip-flops next Wednesday when the high hits 70.

Power has been on all day here too, along with steady snowfall and a high of 30⁰. I went ahead and put the main water system back together since the heat tape has defrosted the catchment tank outlets. Turned off all non-critical loads and fired up the 5500 watt water heater (which sat for nearly 48 hours in a cold room but still had very warm water in it) so we can do a load of dishes and take showers again. If we make it through tonight we may be out of the weeds.

It's a sweltering 25 F here, low wind, bright and sunny. On the weekend, they expect it to hit 32. And then more snow...

-7 again this morning, a bit of a surprise. The weather dude was waxing eloquent about the broken string of subzero days and how a warming trend is just around the corner, along with another 2 to 4" of snow starting Sunday.

Not quite time to start digging out the syruping equipment yet. We started on February 29th last year, I think we will be a bit later this year. That's fine, the 4x4 system in my 11 year old Polaris Ranger is acting up and we will need that for tapping and even more so for gathering and hauling sap. I have a service appointment for next Friday for the Ranger.

Were on our second day of melting. Temps are just getting above the freezing mark, but full sun is helping immensely. Took a walk in the woods yesterday afternoon. Following deer tracks. Expected hard walking, since we got over a foot of snow over two days, earlier this week. Already, had melted down to about 5-6 inches. More melting today. Suppose to be sunny with a high in the mid 40's. In the low 60's, Tuesday.

Didn't get a foot of snow here and it melted off maybe an inch yesterday. My south facing roof still has about 4-5 inches on it.

Gonna be a sunny day with high around 35. March is almost here and that means warmer temps.
We will melt a lot of snow in the next week, enough to leave behind the crud it catches and make the streets look downright miserable.

Beats May. Hot, cold, tornadoes, rain. May in Nebraska can be very unpredictable and possibly violent.
March is a month that means if it snows it will be a lot of snow. Will be mostly gone in a few days too.
