so i found out this morning that old town Pokie is starting up a deal something like trick or treat for Easter.
the kids walk up and down Main street looking for the businesses that have baskets or buckets of Eggs.
i found out by taking a ride to Pokie with the G-kids.

we stopped into a place for Lunch called the red rabbit grill.
i wasn't overly hungry and ordered a simple burger with fries..
i didn't even make it 3/4's through the burger... and had maybe 2 of the fries... the stupid thing was like 3"s high and 5"s across.

I love local burger joints. My brother and I have been on the hunt for the best cheese burgers for about 10 years, from all over the country. We have about 100 so far.

Was reminded that Thursday marked 2 years since we took in the 3 grands at 2,3, and 3 months .

The new to us 4-6 yr old inside only cat marks 3 weeks with us yesterday. Social enough. Mouser extraordinare !! I didn't think they could be so adept w/o claws .

Been tinkering with the 7mm s some more . I think I'll get out to shoot this afternoon.

My Mom is having vision problems, and at almost 93 she accepts that. However, one of her great passions in life is reading. She taught me to read before I started school. She typically starts her morning off with a cup of coffee and reading the Bible. Later in the day she reads for pleasure.
Sue and I took a drive to Barnes and Noble and found a device called the Wonder Bible. A small device with the King James Version of both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Whenever you stop listening, the next time you hit play it picks up where it left off. Mom was excited to use it. USB ports are not ubiquitous in an old lady's apartment. I found two on the back of her TV to charge the Wonder Bible device.
We also bought her a CD player and the public library is literally across the street from her apartment. Turns out there is a CD player in her radio, she just didn't know that.
We live 200 miles away so we met Mom and my brother and my sister-in-law for lunch at a newly reopened Mexican restaurant in the town she lives in, then went to the apartment to set up the reader and CD player.
Then we turned around and made the drive home. Roads were good yesterday and it snowed over night.

22LR ammo on sale...with a price listed in the sales flyer from a farm store or big box store...I haven't seen this since the 22LR draught started in 2013.
.
Runnings (a farm store in MN) has Aguila 22LR Super Extra 40gr (high velocity) in 250 rd bulk pack for $12.99
I included the midsouth link to show that $13 is actually a pretty good price for local retail, note: I did notice that midsouth's price ($31) was for 500. I'm not a fan of bulk packs, but with the friends I have that think I am a ammo store, I need some of this in my stash, so they don't pry the good stuff from me.
.
.
I went there yesterday, the first day of the sale, 7 boxes on the shelf, no limit, I bought 4, the employee that showed me where they were on the shelf said, they are goin pretty fast, take all you want. All I can think, is if they don't get more in, there will be a lot of unhappy customers.

I won't mention this to my wife, she might decide to join you on your hunt.

Seriously, though, I didn't appreciate the epicurean pleasure that a quality burger can provide till I met my wife. Sadly, Al Cornish, of "Al's Good Eats" is long dead and we haven't driven the 150-miles to Snelling to eat a burger at the "Town Tasty" in too many years.

Not a fan of Aguila. Guys have had it at the club and it's not very good if you are looking for accuracy.

Go to the Norma website and check out the TAC-22 practice target ammo. They make 3 versions now, a long range (LR) version and a sub-sonic suppressor version. You want the 3rd which is the original target grade practice ammo. A brick is about $50. When they run sales, shipping (including hazmat) is free. So, it's normally a great deal. I bought 3 cases when it was on sale last year and before NY put in the requirements that ammo much be shipped to an FFL now and you have to get a background check to buy it. Most of the guys are shooting TAC-22 in the matches and all but a few seem to love it. Some say it will not shoot in their rifle. But my gut tells me that the accuracy issue is the operator and not the equipment or the ammo.

Aguila was plenty accurate for squirrel hunting in my rifle. I really like the subsonic HP for tree rats.

Accuracy is dependent on the need. I know that the best Eley ammo is likely better than my Agula but it also costs more for 50 rounds than 500 of the Aguila.

Beautiful day today. Worked till 7am. Slept past church.
Just now getting out of bed.
Having the wake up coffee.
Did I say Beautiful day? Peaked my head outside. Bright Sunny Clear Sky.
40 degrees. No wind. Ground hogs and squirrels playing in the yard. Birds singing. Wife happy. Dog playful.
Kid brought his dishes from his room and is in the kitchen actually washing them.
If I could freeze moments in time to relive later this would be one.
Think If the wife's legs are working good today. We will go on a woods walk.

Aguila is the rimfire ammo of choice in smallbore handgun silhouette. It wins most of the matches.
I have probably 10 different .22 caliber guns. Most of them either like Thunder Bolts or CCI. One rifle, my Rossi. It likes Federal.

But in my two handguns, one 6 inch barrel, the other 4. Aguila is king.

Since I installed the 10/22's E. R. Shaw target bull barrel, Aquila 38 and 40-grainers have proven to be two of its several 50 yard 1/2" accuracy rounds* . . . so much that I recently bought 500 rounds of each. For all I've read of TAC 22's accuracy performance, the 10/22's original barrel nor the Shaw never read it and they both performed accordingly, and I gave away the last 100 rounds.

* Along with CCI's 40-grain Blazer and Tactical, Federal's 40-grain Auto-Match, and Eley's 40-grain Target.

IMO, you can't beat CCI Blazer 22LR ammunition, for the price. All five of my 22s like it.
I can say in any .22. I own....CCI whatever.. will at least give me "minute of squirrel".
All my old High Standard and Steven's Made catalog guns love it.
I just do fun shoots and hunting.
By the way my boy has competed 50 yards vintage. With The JC Higgins model 30 factory scope, and CCI stingers. He has placed very well.

Which one of those five 22's using Blazer do you compete with?
What's that got to do with the price of bacon? I don't compete with any caliber of firearm.............other than with myself or Cindy. Just because a certain brand was the status quo, 15-20 years ago, doesn't make it so, today. It's all about quality control. Which we all know has been slipping, recently.
