I did some shootin at the range this morning.
A few months ago, while loading some 9's (auto-indexing the Lee classic turret with Disk powder measure) ...I'd notice a short pour (powder drop), about every 10 or so. When I finally figured out what the problem was (a problem I created BTW) I had loaded 3 boxes of ammo. I set those aside for a day like today, a morning where no one is at the range, so I could do shoot'em "carefully" without an audience.
>>>YAY ! none were squibs. I must have caught them all during the reloading session.
They seemed extra smoky, compared to shooting the same ammo from that lot, on a different day...which I thought was strange, because Carnauba Red isn't very smoky. I was shooting 9mm with the NOE 358-128-SWC, Carnauba Red, 4.6 gr Unique, sized to .357. The only reason I can think of being more smoky, was that there is a Low Pressure Front coming through with a light breeze from the East (which is unusual), so the air was more Cool and more Humid, then previous shootin sessions? In our pistol pit, the shooter faces west, so the smoke was blowing toward the target...maybe that was the difference?
