We went down to 28 deg and 1/2 inch of snow last night But it looks like The Spinach Leaf Lettuce and Arugula survived , thankfully!
It did hit some potatoes that I put in too early....but those I found in my basement with growing eyes and soggy bodies....figure putting them in the ground was better then the compost pile! They were up a good 3" maybe they may come back.
All the seedlings and Lime tree are living in the basement until Wednesday! Spring weather is to return then. Snow squalls and and high winds up to 40 mph gusts continue until early tomorrow morning. Not a fun day to venture out
Warm, sunny, and clear here. A few days at or near 100* earlier this week, supposed to top out at 87* today. Ran the A/C for the first time this year on Thursday, for a few hours. Another crummy day of house arrest in paradise.
My sister Inlaws sent us a copy of the weather expected in Chicago land area. It was shows a high of 54* which is the same as they had on Christmas. Add in the wind and it sucks for this time of year. So I took a screenshot of our weather here in Fairbanksand sent that to her. I did mention that we are 109* warmer then Christmas.
I hate it when Alaska has better weather than we do.
we are supposed to have the nights warming up into the barely 40's for a bit then back down to 30 or so again.
I'm real tempted to get stuff in the dirt and get it going, but I know I will lose most of it if I do.
rain is forecast for Wednesday, and that'll bring back the cold nights.
gonna get near 70 today but it's gonna be a brutal 70.
we got a snow storm skirting us to the North and rain to the south.
there is like 3 low pressure systems surround us so the Iso Bars are stacking up tight tight and the wind will be howling probably until we hit top temp.
right now it's re-arranging the stuff on the front porch, and pruning the neighbors willow tree pretty good.
It was a nice cool 75-80, clear and dry while I was working on the house earlier, just looked and it's 91 on the porch with 25% humidity so our cold snap is ending.
Saturday I was looking at rice lakes doing beaver bids. I was near Malmo, Mn. and my wife was in Aitkin,Mn., or we where about 30 miles apart. It left an inch of snow and slush on the road where I was and the wife never saw anything but light rain. She was on the West side of Mille Lacs lake and I was on the East side of the same lake!!! I was worried about her running in the slop on the roads so text her to find out where she was at. Told her she better get home with the slop and she said I was losing my mind. I sent her pictures of the snow all over everything. She said send her a picture with the date on it! LOL
Nice day today tearing out beaver dams, but the water is still plenty brisk.
Cold clear blue skies.....perfect for the Blue Angel flyover we get today. I have seen them and the Thunderbirds on a number of occasions...….I'm like a little kid, just love to watch them.
Yesterday, we were on a far edge of rain that was well to the North, but enjoyed the cloud formations, particularly the dark and ominous looking ones.
This morning's 50/50 chance of rain was neither, but there is a low, dense and damp overcast.
we caught some thunderstorms yesterday too.
it's half hazy flat grey cloudy and some open Sun today, but near 50 before 10 am so it'll probably suck some moisture off the mountains and drop it on the ground.
at least the 20+ mph winds have stopped.
Not a good May for us in the NE....Up til now we are recording the lowest average temps since record taking! But my favorite weather guy says starting Thursday until thr 31st.....we will be lifted into only the 5th lowest position.......that means above average for the rest of the month! Yippi!
