What is your weather today?

3 inches of new fluff since yesterday, with very fine snow floating around this morning---- so far not had to move any of it, besides a little shoveling off of the porch.

The dry snow which is what we get here mostly, rare if it’s ever wet. I use a electric leaf blower. Works good if you don’t get to much.

Clear and cold still and colder for the next couple of days. Karyn and I are going to walk down to the cabin at solar noon, couple hundred yards and check out the sunshine as compared to the homestead. There’s a small ridge in between that keeps direct sunlight from the house for November, December and January. At the cabin the sun while very low on the horizon never disappears. The cabin sits on a fairly gentle slope south by southwest. The homestead sits on a west by northwest slope. Great in the summer where we can watch the sun set out our front porch and a couple hours later watch the sun rise front the same chair.

It’s looking like we will be moving to the cabin by next fall and turning the big house of to Karyn’s sisters son.

Anyway, cold but beautiful.

Up here on top of usa,,,maine...
Everything is white,,cold as well,so i think it will remain white until march
Sounds familiar. Winter. Cold here has set in for a while -22 below zero this morning going colder. Doesn’t look like we’ll dip below -30 yet. I can wait.
Mainiac the only thing I can add to your description is it’s dark here as well, cold and white.

Just above freeing, this AM. Suppose to get up into the low 60's with plenty of sunshine. Fifteen day forecast has nothing lower than 37 degrees. Several days in the low to mid 70's. This is why I left Michigan.

During 4 years of researching demographics of most states west of the Mississippi I did take a good look at Alaska. Three major problems for me there. The remoteness should you need urgent medical care. The duration/length of winter. Housing prices & cost of living sky high.

IIRC, this thread is weather related. I like four distinct seasons but not six months of Winter, that is the norm in Michigan.

Yeah I agree with all you and Ric have pointed out, but there’s lots of reasons to live up here, but, lots of reasons not to. And up here it’s 2 seasons “winter and 4th of July”
Winters can be long, dark and cold, but summers are awesome. This winter is panning out to be a cold one. But we fly out on December 13th for 3 months. And we get to spend the first month it the northwest, I’ll have to bring my extra tuff’s for wading around and hope I don’t get webbing between my toes while the rest of me wrinkles up from the mass quantities of rain.
