Weather has taken a turn toward warmer, finally. Maybe done covering up plants. I saw 79 briefly on the Indian's instrument pack. Mostly cloudy, started out in the low 40's and a westerly wind still had an edge to it. Then the the wind swung from the south and you could immediately feel the softness to it.
We are headed to Northern WI for the inland fishing opener on May 1st. They had a Winter storm advisory for last night. Only 255 miles away. Part of prepping for the opener is getting an old Grumman Sport Boat and its trailer and accessories ready. We took it to a local back water lake off the Wisconsin River this afternoon to let Sue run the small outboard and for me to check out my oar risers. We saw King Fishers, Blue Wing Teal, Wood Ducks, Canada Geese, and lots of turtles sunning on logs.
Came home about 3:30pm and it was getting so nice I raised and eyebrow and said, (in my most suggestive tone), "bike ride?" 7 minutes later we rolled out of the shed and put on about 85 miles. About 10 of those were on gravel roads, not my favorite because I can't just relax and sight see. As we putted past a couple of different dairy farms on those gravel back roads we got enthusiastic waves from a couple of farm families. Sue said to me, "When do you suppose they last saw a motorcycle on their road?"
One stretch of a county road had millions? billions? of Rue Anemone flowers in the woods. It almost looked like snow. They were everywhere for two or three miles then nothing.
